Endlessly

She leans in the mini-stairs and nods with a smile on her face as I put the last picture frame inside the box even if I DON'T WANT TO, but she wants this. So I guess i'll just go with it.

"You're doing the right thing, Nick".

"I hope I am."

"Yes, you are.''

I stood up and now we're face-to-face with each other.

"Do you still love me?", I don't know why I asked and it's stupid of me to ask.

"Now I don't." she answered right away without any pause right after I asked the question.

"Ouch?", I snorted.

"Okay, to be fair. I loved you until my last breath. You okay with that?"

Her words made me smile. "Then what happened next?"

"Well, I became like this. A ghost or whatever you call it. I don't think I have feelings anymore and the only thing I know now is that I need to go someplace else but I can't since you are holding me back. "

"Is it really only me? How about your parents, don't they miss you?"

"They moved to U.S. 4 months ago. They needed it. And I think they're already doing fine. Im proud of them." She says, balancing herself from one foot to another.

So yep. Now it's really only me she has to deal with. Great.

We got down from the treehouse. She walked towards the edge of the hill where we used to sat down and watch the sun rise and set, other times we just simply appreciate the view of the town below.

"It's still beautiful, Nick", she said, her eyes glued to the view, sounding like she will never come back here ever again.

''Yes, it is. And it will always be", I replied but I wasn't referring to the sun nor the view downtown.

Minasdan ko lang siya at ang gusto ko lang gawin ay ang pagmasdan siya. Pinagdarasal ko na wag muna siyang bigla na lang maglaho at buti nga ay hindi.

I kind of find myself wishing that boxing away our memories up in the treehouse is just her first step of helping me to forget. Please, please ...

She turned to me with a look in her eyes and I think ..

I think I just got my wish granted.
