The next day after getting off work, we went to my family's place. They were in shock at first when we announced about the engagement, but they gave us our blessing in the end. They got to know Toji even better, and I kind of felt bad not introducing him sooner to my family. Some of our family members knew about their clan, but unlike other people, they never thought of Toji as an outcast. My grandmother and some of my cousins also had cursed energies, and had the ability to see curses as well when they were young.

"He's a good man." My mother said while we washed the dishes together after eating lunch with the whole family. "I am happy for you, honey." My mom said and held my chin to give me a kiss on the cheek.

"Mama, the soap!" She had dishwashing soap on her hands! I pouted before wiping my chin with my sleeve. My mom just brushed it off.

"You move out for a few months then suddenly you come back, and you're engaged! And to your boss too!"

"Mama, keep it down! He's right there." I whispered and my mom just teased me about it.

"I'm genuinely happy, my dear. Never forget Mama, alright? We'll always be right here for you." My mom said, and I smiled. She's the sweetest mom ever on the face of the earth. "And make sure you feed my son-in-law very well! Toji, tell me if this brat isn't takin' care of you!"

A faint 'Yes, Ma'am!' roared from the living room, making Toji earn a sarcastic smile from me.

After a few minutes, we went out and headed to another place. Toji stopped walking midway then faced me. He was so nervous.

"Are we going to your family's house?" I asked. I also became nervous when I thought of that.

"I'm sorry, I won't be able to take you there. Not that you can't, I just... don't want to." He said.

"It's alright, hey." I said. He smiled.

"We're going to somebody else's place." He said. "To the only man I can trust."

"I-It's nice to meet you!" For goodness' sake, Yumiko, stop stuttering!

The man in front of me was so intimidating. He had a bottle of alcohol in his hand which made Toji frown a little. I kept bowing until he told me to lift my head up. I looked at him. He looked at me, then he looked at Toji, then he looked at me again, then to Toji. Me. Toji.

"Who is this?" He said. Shiver. "Oh. Yumiko, is it?" He asked. I politely answered 'Yes' yet he didn't show me a smile. At all. "What brings the both of you here?" He sat down in front of us.

"We came to ask. For your blessing." Toji said. Unlike my family members who were in shock with joy, this man had displease written all over his face. Toji gripped on my hand when he noticed me trembling a little.

"Another reckless decision of yours, Toji?" He asked with a stern voice. "I know that I told you to watch over her, but I do not remember telling you to rush marriage with her."

"I love her."

"I know." The man said. "Are you even aware of the risks that this decision brings to the both of you?" The man looked at me and I couldn't give any response.

"Actually, I haven't disclosed everything to her yet..."

"I doubt that you even disclosed who I was with her yet." The man said. Toji looked away and the man threw an empty can of beer to his head.

"What the- what was that for?!" Toji exclaimed.

"Your stupidity!" The man said then chugged on his bottle of beer. Toji then looked at me with a soft smile.

"This is my uncle... Naobito Zenin."
