September 1st 1995

Juliet sucked a breath of air into her lungs, the familiar smell of oil and smoke filled her lungs. It was the same scent she'd smelt on the first of September every year since nineteen ninety one. The whistle of the Hogwarts express sounded loudly and Juliet watched as students fled from their parents, rushing onto the train. The young ones clung to their parent's sides, some of them even cried.

The brunette girl made her way abroad the train and made a direct line to the Ravenclaw carriage, where she knew Eleanor would be waiting. The blonde girl had always been one of the first to board the train and Juliet had to praise her for her incredible time management skills. Of course, both girls were insanely smart, it explained why they instantly clicked when they first met because little did they know at the time, they were both destined for Ravenclaw house.

Whilst she was deep in her thoughts, she didn't realise that she'd walked entirely too far and she was no longer in the Ravenclaw carriage. Her eyes widened when she saw students with green and silver ties around their necks. Slytherin's. Juliet spun around quickly, fumbling with the sliding door, that appeared to be quite sticky, because it just wouldn't budge. She let out an exasperated sigh, about to pull her wand out and confringo the crap out of it when a veiny hand appeared from behind her and slid the door open easily. She gulped before slowly turning around, hoping the hand didn't belong to who she thought and when her brown eyes met green ones she let out a breath of relief. Theodore Nott towered over her, he stood at, at least six foot tall. His slightly muscular build was peeking through the thin cotton of his white school shirt and his brown messy curls hung over his forehead. His chest was nearly touching hers and she realised she'd be staring for way too long.

"Don't worry, that doors always been tricky" he let out a chuckle but Juliet didn't find anything humorous. In fact, she despised the three Slytherin boys who had tormented her on her first train journey to Hogwarts. She wasn't sure if they even remembered, maybe it just wasn't memorable to them. But to her, it was.

"Thank you Theodore" Juliet's voice held too much venom and it clearly shocked the boy.

The boy took a large step backwards, watching with narrowed eyes as Juliet turned around and left the compartment. The door slid shut roughly behind her and she nearly jumped out of her skin. As she made her way back to her own compartment, she willed herself to not get lost in her thoughts again, it would save her any further embarrassment.

"Juliet Walter's! I've been looking everywhere for you!" That voice. The one and only Eleanor White. Juliet spun around, seeing her bestfriend stood in the doorway of a compartment with her arms crossed over her chest and a look of annoyance on her face.

"El I've missed you" Juliet ran forward, wrapping her arms around the girls neck.

"I've missed you as well I suppose...have you changed your hair?" Eleanor picked up a piece of Juliet's hair and inspected it.

"No el, it's the same...it's just longer" Juliet laughed at her friend's confusion.

"Hm it looks great" Eleanor shrugged her shoulders. One thing that she'd always loved about Juliet Walters, was her hair. It was the first thing she noticed about her and something they had bonded over. It wasn't just brown, no, when the sun shone on it, it glowed with a shade of red. Almost like it was illuminated with the flames of a bonfire.

"So does yours! I love the highlights" Juliet flicked Eleanor's now bright blonde hair into the air, watching as it fell back onto her shoulders in loose curls.

"Enough about our hair...get your ass in here" Eleanor shooed Juliet into the compartment and slammed the door shut behind her. She started handing Juliet all sorts of sweet treats. Chocolate frogs, liquorice wands and all flavour jelly beans.

"So, what took you so long?" Eleanor mumbled through a mouth full of sweets.

"I was too busy thinking and I ended up in the damn Slytherin compartment and the door got jammed shut" Juliet sighed as she relived the memory.

"Ugh the curse of being a Ravenclaw...we are always too busy thinking" Eleanor chuckled at her own words. "Please tell me you didn't see Malfoy" Eleanor nearly gagged as she spoke his name.

"No thankfully I didn't but I got the next best thing...Theodore Nott. Who was definitely trying to come on to me...by the way" Juliet scoffed. It was truly ridiculous that their memory's didn't serve them well.

"Disgusting. Makes me want to vomit" Eleanor shoved a handful of every flavour beans into her mouth "just like these beans do" the blonde girl spat the now chewed up sweets into the palm of her hand.

"Eleanor that's disgusting!" Juliet covered her face with her hands.

"I'm sorry" the blonde girl turned a deep shade of red before tipping the chewed up sweets into a tissue.

"Well, I'm going to get some sleep, wake me up when we are nearly at Hogwarts so I can get changed" Juliet made herself nice and cosy on the cushioned seat of the compartment.

"Sure thing jules, sure thing" Eleanor smiled as she pulled out a book and opened it to the page with the folded corner.
