It was almost morning, they'd been up for hours without end it seemed, and so much had happened, it was scary to let their guard down, even if just for a few hours, but they all knew that nothing would get done if they were all on the brink of passing out from exhaustion.
Ignis woke up, several hours after they had all fallen asleep, his mind haunted by nightmares. He sat up with a groan, feeling a sharp pain in his head and aches in his body. "Well, well, look who's awake. It's amber-eye-freak," Pluma taunted, his voice full of malice. Ignis growled, wondering why they had to bother him now, he was so grateful that he still had his helmet on(despite the pain it causes when he sleeps). "Shut up!" he exclaimed, his voice laced with frustration and anger. "Oh, someone woke up on the wrong side of his deathbed," Sagitta laughed, his voice dripping with sarcasm. Ignis felt sick. He despised these two with all his heart. What right did they have to judge him for something he couldn't control? It wasn't his fault that he was born with unnatural eye colors.
"Come on, freak. Why don't you show us your face?" Pluma threatened as he took a step closer to Ignis. "Back off," Ignis warned, his tone firm and assertive. He could feel their cruel grins under their helmets.
"And why should we? You're a monster, a traitor. There's no way someone as weak as you could defeat the Evil Wizard. You're part of some evil plot against the kingdom," Sagitta jeered, his voice full of contempt. Pluma chuckled darkly, enjoying the torment they were causing.
"If you ever accuse him of treason again, I will put you on ice, and you will never see the light of day again," a cold and tired voice said. It was Glacies, who had stood up and was glaring frigidly at them. His tone was resolute and unwavering, showing that he was not afraid to take action.
Pluma and Sagitta both turned their attention to Glacies, wondering who the ice knight thought he was to make such a threat. "Is that a threat? Ice boy's making threats. You look like you can barely stand. What chance do you have?" Pluma sneered, his voice filled with mockery. Sagitta walked up to Glacies, trying to intimidate him.
Despite their taunts, Glacies didn't back down when the grey knight got into his face. "You're just someone the king took pity on, poor boy. You're the curse of your village. You were the only one that survived, and the king didn't want to put you out of your misery. Instead, he had his best generals break you. You're nothing. You feel nothing. And all you're ever going to be is nothing," Sagitta spat out, his words cruel and cutting.
Glacies fixed her with a steely gaze, his eyes were ablaze with unyielding determination. He didn't utter a word, but stood his ground firmly, making it clear that he was not one to be taken lightly. Abruptly, a hand seized Sagitta's shoulder and yanked him back from the blue knight with force, sending him crashing to the ground. Fulgur defensively in front of Glacies.
Fulgur's face twisted with fury as he glared down at Sagitta and Pluma. "Get out, both of you, get out!" he hissed through clenched teeth. "If I see you here again, I will tear you apart limb by limb. You both have nothing better to do with your lives than hurt others around you to make yourselves feel better about your crap lives."
Sagitta stood his ground, his eyes narrowing in defiance. "Yeah, well, it's not like you've done any better-"
"Shut up!" Fulgur roared, his voice echoing off the walls. His powers exploded from his form, crackling and sparking with lightning as he glared down at the two knights. Sagitta and Pluma both yelped and scrambled out of the room, their faces pale with fear.
The skirmish woke Venenum almost immediately, and he sat up in bed, rubbing his bleary eyes. He looked over at Ignis, who was shivering from discontentment, and sighed. It seemed like there was never any peace in this place.
