Ignis and Venenum were waiting for any signs of the others in a small camp they made away from any border patrols the Barbarians would send out.

Ignis was cooking some fish Venenum caught.

Venenum was looking through his books and organizing things in case they needed to be found quickly.

"You think they're okay?" Venenum asked Ignis quietly, though the green knight wasn't looking in Ignis' direction.

"Yeah, they're smart, they're going to be fine," Ignis said vaguely.

"Fulgur told me that he'd have Glacies come to check in on us to see where we were camping out," Venenum said, and Ignis snorted.

"Let me guess, he didn't want Viburnum out of his sight?" Ignis inquired, and Venenum shrugged.

"Probably, but I'm worried that they didn't make it in," Venenum said.

"The benefits of never revealing your identity after becoming a knight, unless it's around knights of your class, nobody would recognize us outside of uniform," Ignis muttered.

Venenum seemed to have sensed his distance, "How are you holding up?"

"I'm fine, I mean, as fine as the person that is wanted by our worst enemies can be," Ignis corrected himself with a sigh.

"Hey, we won't let them get you, I promise," Venenum said, and Ignis shook his head.

"Don't, it'll be fine, everything will work out, I know you'd do anything to keep that promise," Ignis said, and Venenum put a hand on his shoulder when he walked up to him.

"Have some of this, I'm going to go rest," Ignis dismissed him, giving him the cooked fish, and Venenum nodded.

"Okay, I'll wake you if they show up," Venenum said.

-

Ignis was full of fury as he looked at Fulgur's body, his armor was scuffed up and he was seemingly unconscious.

His head was in Glacies' lap and the ice knight was cooling off the lightning knight's body.

"Keep him distracted! I'll protect Fulgur!" Glacies snapped at Ignis and Venenum.

The two of them nodded, Ignis drew his longsword and rushed at the Groom, fire at the ready.

The Groom retreated to his piano again, and once Ignis reached him, lasers activated to protect the Groom from Ignis' attack, electricity surged through Ignis' body and he shot back into the ground, his sword flying away from him.

Ignis groaned as his vision cleared, bombs were flying in his direction, he scrambled away before they could hit him directly, but the explosions threw him off balance and he was on the ground again, his sore body twitching as the pain of the lasers set in.

"Ignis!" Venenum shouted from across the room.

Ignis huffed as he tried to sit up, but the Groom was standing over him, his saber to his neck.

The Groom wasn't looking at Ignis though, he was looking in Venenum's direction, the knight's sickles were drawn and he was running toward Ignis, stopping in his tracks at the threat of Ignis' life.

"One more step and he dies!" the Groom said with a deep foreboding voice.

Veneum swore.

Ignis put his head on the ground, taking a sharp breath, his hand ignited, and he started burning at the Groom's feet.

The Groom yelped at the burn in his ankle.
