Seth's POV
Seeing Renesmee go down, thanks to that sadistic Jane Volturi, nearly causes my heart to stop.. I carefully get to Jasper's right flank, as he tries to force Jane to give up her hold on Nessie, "PAIN" Jane says her voice deceptively sweet, I watch in horrified silence as Jasper goes to his knees holding his head in his hands, I try to get between him and Volturi vampires, leaping to try Nes free of Jane's arms, but in the second it takes me to try to get Nessie free, another female vampire that's with Jane flicks a lighter and throws it on Jasper before he can recover from Jane's attack. The female, with Jane tries to land a kick to my ribs, "Val leave him! Remember master Aro's orders! Jane snaps. Their short exchange is happening as I tuck into a ball and roll away, letting out a long howl, as soon as I get back to my paws! Alice, Edward, and Bella, all rush to my side, but before they can get to me, Jane and Val have used their vampire speed to escape, taking Nessie with them. Alice collapses seeing the remains of her Mate burning in a pile.. Seth where is Renesmee?! Edward demands. I whine, then let out a mournful howl, then Jacob is at my side, in his human form.. As I show Edward exactly what happened with my thoughts... "The Volturi killed Jasper, and kidnapped my daughter!!" Edward snarls, and it's hard to tell which emotion wins, his fury, or his devastation.
"Jake, Seth get inside to Carlisle's study, I did what I could but Sam and Leah are going to need you when they wake up." Bella says. "But I have to.. I can't be without Renesmee, I should go after them!" Jake says, howling out a sob, unlike any other human noise I've ever heard... I poke my nose into Jake's side, he's trembling as if he's getting ready to change into his wolf form.. "I can't see much, but I do know that if we go to Volterra now, Aro will either capture or kill us all! " Alice says, her voice sounding dead.. "I'm so sorry about Jasper," I say quickly turning back to my human form.. "I just couldn't save either one of them!" I say feeling like a complete and utter failure..
"It's not your fault Seth, Jasper and I have known since the first time the Volturi came for us because of Nes, that this, she gestures to the pile of what remains of Jasper, would happen.. It was part of the reason we left the family, the first time they came, that and we needed to find Nahuel and his aunt Huilen. Jasper and I have known for years, that we were living on borrowed time! I can't see what they're planning now! Something has changed, and I'm only getting blurred flashes! "She growls her face scrunching up..
A few hours later with Jacob and Seth in Carlisle's study.. I hear Onyx sobbing, begging for Reney. " I'm going to go check on him.. I tell Jacob. Blondie and Emmett just got home a few minutes ago, you might want to give them a few minutes with him first, he tries to warn me, but I can't stand to hear the little guy cry, so I go upstairs peeking in his room. Rose is rocking him, but he's inconsolable, I knock on the door frame very quietly, "hi Rose, do you mind if I try something?" I pull out my phone, and pull up a recording I made of Renesmee doing a karaoke song at one of our pack parties. Onyx calms down. "Seth can you take him?! I can't do this right now, being a mom is a hell of a lot harder than I ever expected it to be.." If that's what you want, sure I've got him.." She runs out of the room using her vampire speed as soon as Onyx is my arms. Seth, where's my Reney? He asks sounding broken hearted.. She'll be gone for a while buddy, I'm sorry.. He cries himself to sleep in my arms.."
Meanwhile in valterra, after Renesmee has been deposited in a room with multiple locks, and a guard just outside the door. Jane, Valkyrie, Alec, and a few other younger vampires, all have a meeting with Aro, "Felix has been killed in action, and while that's regretable, we are one step closer to our goal dear ones.."
"Valkyrie, Jane, you both deserve a special reward for taking care of Jasper Hale once and for all," Aro presents them both with a human to feed from..
Back at the Cullen's house
Jake gently wakes me, telling me "Seth, Leah's awake and is asking for you. Go, be with her... I'll look after Nyx.
