"The library's the other way, Mayfield."

She stopped walking and turned to face him as she waited for him to reach her.

"I'm not going to the library, Malfoy."

They walked alongside each other without a destination. "I didn't take you as a liar." He smirked at the girl.

"Yea well I didn't take you as a stalker so.."

"Funny."

He in fact was not laughing.

"Hilarious."

Neither was she.

"I'm just roaming."

The halls were empty with all the students in the Great Hall, so they were alone.

"Anyways, cause I'm curious," he spoke, the two beginning to walk outside to the courtyard, the sun beaming onto them. "Why'd you come to hogwarts? I mean, we don't get much Americans here." They walked at a slow pace, not rushing to get anywhere.

"I was having a hard time over there."

"With what?" They spotted a bench and had sat down on it.

"Um," she hesitated, unsure of what to say. What was she supposed to say? That she came after her 13th life's son who just happened to be Harry Potter: "The boy who lived"?

"I had lost someone dear to me and couldn't stand being there anymore, alone. I have a far relative here so I came."

"What about your mum or dad? If you don't mind me asking?"

"Uh," a dry chuckle left her. "Dead." It's not like she was lying.
An awkward silence followed after that, the boy not knowing what to say. "Sorry, I don't know why I said it like that." She laughed, looking at him.

"Are you.. fine?"

"Yea, I'm fine. It was a long time ago, when I was about 9 so..."

A comfortable silence fell over them, the only sound audible being the light wind carrying the leaves with it as the transition between summer and autumn began.
Blair could feel the wind hugging her, as it's the gentle breath of nature and stood with her as she told a story it also witnessed.

Blair wasn't big on keeping everything a secret and trying to act mysterious so telling Draco about her unfortunate parental situation was something she didn't mind. As she journeyed through the stages of maturation and wisdom, her load of worries lightened, distinguishing her from peers enveloped in the mountains of daily concerns. Nevertheless, amidst this transformative voyage, grief lingered as a poignant reminder of life's profound complexities.

"Anyways," she looked at him, his eyes only looking at the architecture in front of him. "Tell me something about yourself, I feel as if I'm making this all about me." Her lips curled as her eyes got smaller from the blinding rays of light the sun gave off.

"I have nothing to say."

He ran his hand through his hair, his posture relaxed. The way he carried himself was something she was starting to slowly admire. She didn't know much and she hadn't heard much about him but from what she had seen she had an idea. He was closed. Almost the type to not be so playful around people, at least not like her.

Slightly bumping into his shoulder, she got his attention. "I'm gonna head on to my next class. I'll see you later?" Blair was already backing away, still facing him, a smirk on both their faces.

All he did was nod, his eyes closing for a second as he did so.

~

After her transfiguration class, which she discovered after bumping into him in the hall that she had right after Draco, she had nothing left to do for a few hours.
