Helping a Friend

I read the letter that Remus sent me and I quickly grabbed a bag to get some clothes. Something was up with Remus....

About an hour later, I Apparated to Remus' home because he never asks me to help him with anything. I hope he's not hurt because of his transformations.... I'm worried about him because he's one of my best friends.

I rang the doorbell in the pouring rain and waited for him to open the door. The one thing I didn't expect to see when he opened a door was him holding a sandy brown haired baby girl.

"What in Merlins name is wrong Moony? And who's the kid?"

He looks sheepish and motions me in, when he shut the door he said, " She's my daughter, Padfoot, and she's what's wrong... I can't take care of her when I'm... wolfed out. Her name is Rayne."

"When did you get a kid, Moony? I've only seen you look at a woman, but I'd never think you'd do things that result in kids...."

"Remember Desdemona?"

"My kid brother's friend? Are you kidding me Moony?"

"Padfoot, are you going to help me or not?"

"Yeah, yeah I'll help... Merlin's beard, I'm gonna be a nanny for a baby girl... but at least she's cute," I muttered and I saw how his face lit up like a kid on Christmas. "At least it's nothing too... sirious...," I sniggered.

He looked at me and shook his head, "Thank you, Sirius, I appreciate your help. I just needed more than just me to take care of her." He showed me the letter that Desdemona wrote him about little Rayne.

"This little girl is not pathetic and she doesn't need this woman. She's got you, Moony, and me by default and she'll never need anything from anybody else til she gets older," I fumed.

Remus looked at me and his face was shocked... which was probably because of my outburst. But hey, it's the truth, I'll be the best uncle this kid has ever had. She might keep my mind off of Lily, James, and little Harry.

I'm just grateful for Remus thinking that I could help him.
