*Sirius*

It's been three years to the day that Moony sent me that letter. Three years since James and Lily....died.

Rayne grew up fast and she had Moony's sandy brown hair. Her eyes, on the other hand, were the same color as the golden topaz... just like when Moony is in werewolf form.

And another thing , this kid is brilliant. At just three, she was reading by herself, and most of the books were our old Hogwarts ones, since we moved out of Moony's place and into mine,(Mine is definitely bigger), we had them out in the library.

My little Moonlit (my nickname for her) also talks in full sentences without a lisp, I mean this kid is something else. Of course, it goes without saying, I love this little child.

Anyways, a little over a month from Halloween, Dumbledore sends me and Moony a letter saying that he needs to speak with us about something. And, ya know, I'm not going to say no to the Headmaster of Hogwarts. Because, well, he pretty much was the reason I stayed outta Azkaban, more or less.

We used the Floo to go to his office, which is where we saw Snivellus, that pathetic little git, in there. He sneered at us, well just me and Moony, but he just stared at Rayne, who stared back like she was fascinated with him.
"Daddy, can you put me down?," her soft, sweet voice broke the silence that was raging between us.

"Of course, Rayne, just be careful," Moony cautioned her. And I swear that kid could beat me in sassyness, because she just gave him a look that was practically saying, 'Duh'. She sat down, obviously fascinated by Fawkes, Dumbledore's Phoenix, who presented his feathers with pride to her. She gasped with excitement on her face.

Snape snorted and droned out, " The Headmaster will be back in a moment."

"Oh that's wonderful to know, Snivellus," I sneered and Rayne turned around and glared at me, "What's wrong, Moonlit?"

"That was rude, Siri. Just because he's being rude doesn't require you to reciprocate it." Snape looked at her with a shocked expression, which she just ignored. "How does a child of your age know words like that?," he asked her.

"You know there's these things called books, they're made for learning and enjoyment. I like to read a variety of books... though Shakespeare is a well written author, for him being a Muggle and all," Rayne said quietly and sarcastically. In that moment, I was proud of my Moonlit. But I always am, so it's nothing new.

Just as Snape was about to speak again, Dumbledore walked in saying, " Ah it's good to see you Remus, Sirius," and he looks down at Rayne and says, " and you must be Rayne Lupin." He was holding out his hand to her and she shook it, her tiny hand disappearing into his. "Yes I am,sir, and you must be Professor Dumbledore," then she went over to Snape and says, " I never got to know your name, sir."

"Professor Severus Snape, Miss Lupin," and he looked shocked at her manners.

"Nice to meet the two of you, Professors,"and she sat back down, staring at Fawkes the Phoenix.

"Sirius, Remus, I know you are both wondering what I called you here for."

"Yes sir, we are," Moony and I muttered.

"Its about Harry Potter. I want the two of you to take him away from his aunt and uncle and have him live with you."

"What are they doing to him?," Rayne asks suddenly, looking away from Fawkes.

"They're not the nicest of caretaker, sweetheart."

"I want to go too, he might not take too kindly to two grown men coming to take him away. He might feel better if there was another kid around. I assume they've been abusive towards him, haven't they?"

Dumbledore looked in awe towards my Moonlit and, "you are correct in your assumption, Miss Lupin. And that is a good idea as well," then he looks towards me and Moony and says, "Sirius, Remus, after you get him, I suggest taking him to St Mungo's to be looked over."

"Yes, sir. Have a good night." And we both got up to leave and Rayne speaks to both Snape and Dumbledore, "it was nice meeting the two of you, Professors. Have a good night."

"Have a good night, yourselves Miss Lupin, Sirius, and Remus," Dumbledore kindly says with his blue eyes twinkling.

"Good night, Miss Lupin," Snape drones and walks out while looking like an overgrown bat.

Remus looked at me and said, "We will go get him tomorrow, Padfoot, alright?"

"Alright, Moony. Let's take Moonlit home so she can sleep.

I picked her up and she snuggled into the crook of my neck, "I love you, Moonlit," I whispered.

"I love you too, Siri. Can I sleep in your bed tonight," she whispered back, her eyes begging me to let her stay with me. "Yes, you can."

"Thanks, Siri," her smile made me grin back at her. We got into the fireplace and Flooed back home, all the while I held that sweet little girl close to me.
