Me:
I told you that I would be a trainee, but if you want me to fill in multiple positions, you must pay me.

Alan:
Don't worry. With the skills you possess, I won't let you work for free.

He paused for a second and continued.

Alan:
Let's go. We have to discuss your salary and sign the agreement that you won't leave and work with another garage meantime. All right?

I took a deep breath and agreed to do so. Just as I was leaving... Charlie and his boyfriend entered the room.

Shoot!

Charlie does not know that I applied here. I hope he doesn't spill the beans because he knows very well that I do not want others to know that we are brothers.

Alan:
Hey Babe! I've got a new car-tuning repairman. He is very skilled too.

Babe and Charlie came towards me and they both handshake with me. I am glad that Charlie is behaving as if he hasn't seen me before.

Babe weirdly looked at Alan, smiling. I couldn't understand what they were talking about, just with their eye contact. Babe and Alan are so close that they don't need words to communicate.

Alan:
What?!

He laughed. I have no idea what is happening here.
Alan continues

Alan:
Even Way tested out. He even said that he was more skilled than our old repair crew.

Babe looked at Way and asked if it was true.

Way:
Yup. Alan posted it a long time ago and suddenly we got one.

Babe:
He looks young though.

Alan:
He is 23 and just a student. And he is just a year younger than your boyfriend. Moreover, you were younger than him when you came to the garage.

Why is everyone so bothered about my age? I am young. But I am willing to work! My classmates are just a year older than me and they are working too.

Babe:
Fine! He is looking cute, by the way.

Charlie turned his head to look at Babe.

Alan:
Hey! Hey! Don't talk like that!

Me:
If nothing, I am leaving.

Alan:
Come on! Don't leave already. It is your first day. Come with me. I will show you around.

I agreed by nodding at him.

Alan looked at others and told them to get back to work. And they all dispersed.

Alan:
If you have something to ask, you can come to me. We are like family here.

Alan said as he was showing me around.

The garage is huger than I expected. Charlie is very bad at describing things. I liked it here and the members of my team seem to be approachable as well. I liked Sonic the most of them all. He is funny and understands the situation better.

I was looking at my co-workers from other teams and Alan interrupted me again.

Alan is someone who keeps asking kinds of stuff without giving a break to his mouth. He would rather ask it out than assume something of his own. It is good at times, so he can avoid as many problems as he can. I wish I was like him. But... I was just not that type. I like my solitude and I think of changing myself to adapt to the situation. Yet, it isn't me. I go back to my default type after a certain period.

Alan:
Hey! Are you a quiet person?

He stopped walking and looked right at me. I did too.

Me:
Yes. I want to be alone so I can concentrate.

Alan smiled in an assuring way.

Alan:
Fine fine. I will give you a tour around.

He explained to me the tools and how they should be maintained and repaired. How each machine works and when to use it, very patiently.

I can feel everyone's eyes on me, especially North and Sonic. I was sure that they were talking about me or Alan. But I didn't care so I just concentrated on what Alan was saying.

After teaching me everything from scratch, Alan left for a meeting with 'the boys'. Charlie told me about 'the boys'. It includes Alan, Babe, Nick, Sonic, Way and another guy. I forgot his name since Charlie didn't tell me a lot about him.

I was sitting near the meeting room when Charlie approached me.

Charlie:
Woah! What are you doing here?

Me:
I thought of telling you today.

Charlie scoffed at me as if he was disappointed and that I had done something unforgivable.

Charlie:
Why is it so hard for you to tell me something before you do it? I have to know everything of my own though we live under the same roof?

Me:
Don't mistake me. I didn't want to bother you or others to know that you are my brother!

Charlie:
I understand why you don't want others to know that I am your brother. But bothering me? Are you serious right now? Don't you know it is dangerous now that you work here once they get to know about us?

Me:
Ugh! I didn't think about all that.

Charlie:
Don't ever tell anyone about your special skill. People here cannot be trusted.

Me:
I know. I will take care of myself.

Charlie:
Promise me that you won't ever expose yourself.

Me:
I am not a kid. I know everything.

Charlie:
Up to you then.

I sighed and looked at 'the boys'. Babe did not take his eyes off Charlie. The rest of them were teasing and toying with Babe. Charlie looked at them and shrugged off, so I did too.

Charlie:
You leave now. I will inform them that you left. If we leave together, it may sound fishy.

Me:
Mmm..

I nodded and left the garage.
