After instructing us on what to do and what not to do, the doctor left. He gave Alan a vitamin drink before leaving.

Alan:
Did you hear it? You aren't allowed to work in the garage.

Me:
What?! Are you firing me now?

Alan:
I didn't. Think of this as a temporary holiday.

Me:
We have a match coming up soon!

Alan:
I will take care of it.

Alan said as he started to drink.

Me:
He gave the drink to me!

Alan:
No, he didn't. This is for donors. Should I get you an energy drink as well? Are you tired?

Me:
What donor?

Alan:
Ahh! You had a heavy blood loss and thankfully, I can donate my blood.
Now...my blood is running inside yours as well.

Me:
Wh-oh! I see. Then you should be taken care of, as well.

Alan:
Don't worry. I am strong enough. Unlike you.

I eye rolled at him.

Alan sat beside me on the bed. He held my hand as he spoke.

Alan:
I didn't know you had no parents.

Me:
It's not deep. I don't remember having them from my childhood.

Alan:
It must have been hard for you. How did you manage it alone?

I moved my hands away from him.

Me:
It's a long story. I will tell you another day.

Alan nodded, but his smile left his face. He looked so dull.

Alan shrugged it off and continued to pat my head like I was a dog. At this point, I wonder how I look in his eyes. There is no wonder he imagines me as a dog because he pets me all the time.

Me:
Don't touch!

Alan:
How will I take care of you without touching? My hands are clean too, kid.

Me:
There's no need to take care of me.

Alan:
You cannot even eat by yourself now. Either you are coming to my home or I am staying over. You can decide between these two.

Me:
I said I-

I was cut off when Charlie and Babe entered to hospital room.

Charlie came running towards me, a few drops of tears rolling down.

Charlie:
Why are you always hurting yourself?

Me:
It was just an accident. Why are you crying?

Charlie hugged me, though I was lying on the bed. I adjusted myself to his hug. His hug was so warm and he is the only person whom I can hug back without a second thought.

Charlie:
I was so scared to hear it from Nick. You have no idea how worried I was until I saw you!

Me:
Aish! It is nothing serious

Alan and Babe looked at each other and smiled at Charlie's innocence.

Charlie was crying in my arms till Babe decided to talk.

Babe cleared his throat. His possessiveness is no joke. His aura is intimidating just like that and there's no need to say when he is angered. I looked at Alan to see what his reaction was. His eyes were glued to me. He was looking at my hands which were hugging Charlie's back.

I slowly moved them away and Charlie stood up and wiped his tears.

Babe:
Nick is waiting to talk to you.

Me:
Oh! Where is he?

Babe:
He is waiting outside.

Me:
Why is he waiting? He can just come in!

Babe looked back and signaled him to come in.

Nick:
I am so sorry, kid.

He looked down as he spoke. It broke my heart and made me guilty. It is nobody's fault. It just happened.

I sat straight as I spoke.

Me:
What did you even do to apologize like this? By the way... I am not a 'kid'.

Nick:
S-sorry.

Me:
Ehh! Fine! It is nothing serious. We are good.

Nick:
Nothing serious? Dean told me you lost a lot of blood.

Me:
Dean? Who's that?

Alan and Babe were shocked and spoke at the same time.

Alan and Babe:
Dean?? What is he doing here?

Me:
Who is Dean?

Alan:
Dean used to work in our garage. But he is the assistant for Tony now.

My eyes widened as I heard Tony's name. Charlie looked at me concerned.

Babe:
Did you speak to anyone here?

Me:
Yeah... But he said he came to the wrong room and left immediately.

Charlie opened his gallery to show me a picture of whom they were talking about.

Me:
Yeah! It was him.

Babe and Alan exchanged their glances.

Babe:
I am sure he did something to Jeff. We cannot believe Tony or his men.

Alan:
You can't accuse someone without evidence, Babe. There is nothing to worry about. Jeff will be discharged now and I will be there to protect him.

Babe:
But we all know about Tony and his intentions. Now that he is released, he will be up to something. We should know his plans beforehand to stop him.

Alan:
Don't talk like that. Maybe he realized his mistake and has good intentions.

Babe scoffed.

Charlie:
Let's not talk about anything here. There is a chance that he is hearing all this. Who knows.

Charlie left with Babe to take care of the off-patient procedures. Nick left to attend a call and  Alan was sitting beside me. His thoughts have emerged into something as he was frowning.

Me:
What are you thinking about?

Alan:
Tony knows where I live. How about we go to your place? It is better to stay in your place than mine.

Me:
Actually, you don't have to come over. I can ask Charlie to do it.

Alan:
Charlie? It's been only 6 months since you came here and you both seem to be friends for a while now.

There was a pause.

Alan:
We don't have to disturb Babe and Charlie. Also, it is my responsibility to take care of my boy.

Alan said as he stood up and cleared his throat. Babe and Charlie were done with the form and now we are all set to leave.

I am so happy that Alan is volunteering to take care of me at my worst phase. I know that I should be grateful for having him by my side, but I only fear of me falling for him.

I think it would be a lie if I said that I haven't fallen for Alan, but I can control my feelings. I can prevent the potential threat if I simply choose not to show my feelings towards him.

It is best for both of us.
