Two strangers from rival families fall in love, but their kingdoms have a long-standing feud that could destroy their relationship.

This happens to be you and Jake.
You two are forbidden to see each other.

At a royal ceremony between both kingdoms. You saw Jake sitting on the roof.
He softly smiles when he sees you.
"Would you care to join me, love?"

You smile and sit beside him as he wraps his arm around you, pulling you closer to his body.

"Royal ceremonies are boring," you pout, making him chuckle.

"That's why you came up here?" He asked, making you shake your head. "I knew you were here; I wanted to see you," you confess.

"You're adorable," he says as you stand up and lean on a nearby railing, enjoying the view.

"You know that you shouldn't be out here, love. If someone spots us, then I could be in trouble. We should leave before..." But his sentence was cut off by the sound of a man's voice.

"What are you doing up here?"

It's Jake's father, the King himself.

Before he could catch you with Jake, you quickly hid behind a short wall that you crouched to fully hide yourself.

"Uh..." you heard Jake, stumbling over his own words as his father stared up at him from the ground below.

The king looked up at him suspiciously. "Well? Don't leave me waiting. Who were you talking to?"

You panicked and crouched, frozen in place.
You realized that if the King noticed you, it would be over.

Your entire relationship. Everything that both of you guys built would be burned to the ground.

You heard your own breathing as your heart started to pound in your chest. You had to hide before it became too late.

As the king continued to stare up, He squinted, his brow furrowing slightly, and he asked his question again in a sterner tone.

Jake finally found his voice, his nerves settling down so he could think of an excuse. "Just myself. It's been a bit stuffy inside. I just needed a bit of fresh air."

The king's eyes were sharp, as he seemed unconvinced.

"Is that all? It's very late; you should go back inside."

The king's tone seemed somewhat softer, as if he knew his son well, and that was a perfectly reasonable excuse. He didn't seem to suspect anything.

"Yeah, I was just about to." Jake said, relieved. "I just wanted to have a quick walk around, and I..." He trailed off for a moment, his gaze flickering in your direction, although he didn't directly address you.

The king gave his son a curt nod. "Well, just make sure you don't stay out too long. It's getting late."

Jake nodded. "Yes, right. Well, I should be heading back in then."

The king turned around and went back inside. Jake took a breath, seemingly glad the king was gone. But he turned around, and his eyes met yours once more.

"Did he see you?" He whispered.

"I don't think so," you said, brushing the dirt off your lovely dress.

He sighed, relaxing his shoulders as his nerves settled. "That was close." He said it under his breath.

He turned to you. "We have to be more careful. We can't let people spot us, love."

You walk towards him and hug him. "Sorry."

Jake held you in his arms, wrapping his own around you as well. He sighed once again, his breath warm on your skin.

"Yeah, we should be more careful." You sigh.

"Let's go back to our rooms now, before anyone gets suspicious." Jake said it quietly.

You nodded, and the two of you silently walked back to your rooms. When you reached your room, you went inside. Jake closed the door behind him.

For the first time, the two of you were alone in one of your rooms.

After the door closed, the two of you stood in silence for a moment, staring at each other. The air felt thick and heavy, charged with energy, and the tension seemed to grow with each passing second, the atmosphere growing heavier by the minute.

Jake was the first to break the silence. "I know I can't stay here," he said with a nervous glance, his voice low.

"Yeah, unfortunately." You said your eyes were never leaving his.

He walked closer to you, brushing his fingers lightly against your cheek.

"But..." He continued in a whisper, his voice barely audible, just loud enough for your ears. "Could I have at least one kiss before I leave?"

At that moment, his eyes searched yours as he silently waited for your answer.

"Why not?" A small smirk appears on your lips.

Jake held you close, his hands gripping your hips as he pulled you against him. His breath quickened as he leaned in towards you, and your hearts started to pound faster as you both closed your eyes.

Finally, he kissed you, his lips meeting yours as his hand stroked your cheek.

Your lips clung to his as you forgot about everything else except for each other, letting everything else simply fade away.

When the kiss finally ended, you both stood there for a moment, both of your hearts still pounding from the adrenaline rush.

Neither one of you wanted to break the moment, and the silence lingered for a bit before Jake spoke up.

"I don't know when we'll get to have a moment like this again," he said softly. "I want to... remember this."

You heard someone talking outside your door, making you nervous. "You should go." He sighed, nodding. "Yeah, I know."

He slowly pulled away, his hands still cupping your face, lingering slightly before finally letting go.

He turned around, looking back at you one more time before closing the door behind him, and it was just you in your room once more.

"Don't get caught. I love you," you say, blowing a kiss.

"I love you too."

With that, his door closed, and the two of you were apart once more, even though you both wanted to be together.

But fate was cruel, and your families were destined to hate each other.

You missed him already.
