Third Person POV:

"I'm not scared of you," she says when he caged her with his arms. A frown of confusion appears on his head, but he regains his composure and smiles. Iva gulps looking at him smiling because whenever he smiles, she gets bad news from him.

"Who said I want you to be scared of me?" Casper asks, his eyes still puffy from the good sleep. "I thought wives find it romantic when husbands do that,"

His words caught him off guard. She felt a swooning effect in her head. Am I hallucinating?–she thought.

"Do you consider me your wife?" It was a genuine question from her side.

Casper hides his smile. She looked sad.

"As much as I remember, I haven't divorced you yet, so yeah, you are still my wife," he replies, nonchalantly.

"Soon to be ex-wife," she mumbles, looking down at his chest.

"Looks like you are eager to be my ex-wife," he retorts.

"You know I'm not," she mumbles again.

He deepens his frown. "Then why are your actions implying that?" he says, raising her face with his index finger.

"I'm confused. Your constant change of mood perplexes me." Tears are on the brim of her eyes now. She is trembling, and he can feel it. That's how close they both are standing right now.

"Don't be," he whispers, her tears soften him instantly. He doesn't want to prolong her suffering anymore."Let me make it easy for you,"

He says, slipping his hand to his waist. With a swift movement, he picks her up and makes her sit on the counter. She gasps, and her hands land involuntarily on his shoulders. Casper watches her with pure adoration as she slides her soft, slender hands downward, stopping at his chest. Her touch has always been impactful on him. Today is no exception.

Casper licked his lips before continuing, and that simple action of his made her head light because it was not that uncomplicated–The proximity of the lover, his cologne mixed with the familiar sweet smell of sweat, heat radiating off the muscles, and two hearts synchronizing in a way as ready to become one is not so simple–

"I feel very light here today. A burden has been shed, and I have started to see things now," he says, whispering.

"And what made it possible?" she whispers back, her gaze constantly roaming around his lips as he talks.

He sighs, again. He may say that he feels, but there is still a burden on his chest that needs to be unloaded.

"I think we both know the answer," he mumbles, pushing a loose strand of her lustrous brown hair behind her ear. She feels fully intoxicated by now.

"I don't," she replies, sounding breathless. Her heartbeat is audible.

She lies. She kinda knows that answer. Casper smiles because he knows she knows, but wants him to say it, and he gladly does it.

"It was you,"

More tears start to gather in her eyes, making them look like those of puppies.

"Is this another kind of torture?" she asks, her voice breaking.

"What?" The signs of restlessness start to appear on Casper's face as he witnesses the situation getting difficult.

"You know you can be straightforward with me. I don't mind your anger towards me anymore. Yes, your words hurt sometimes, but at least I get to know what is in your heart," Iva says, looking from under her eyelashes as a tear rolls down her cheek and gets caught midway by Casper's thumb.
