Theo stared at the god in front of them as at least a dozen plates were placed in front of them.
"I mean, you punks are so lucky I am deciding to help you," the god chuckled.
Theo blinked and cocked his head to the side as he kept studying the god. Annabeth, Grover, and a very hesitant Percy dug in to the food while Theo stayed silent.
The god looked at the boy who was staring, "Do we gotta problem? Or are you too good for this food that I so graciously bought you."
Percy cringed from his seat as he heard the words, he had been present for a couple verbal beat downs that involved Theo. Imagine his surprise as Theo stayed silent and kept staring.
"I know you."
Ares glanced at the dark haired boy in front of him and raised a brow, "That right?"
Theo took in the god's stance and body language as best he could. It was fuzzy, but he recognized that jacket. He couldn't remember from where but he knew for a fact he had seen that jacket.
It was a sleeveless leather vest with a gold zipper in the shape of a spear, it was real too. Theo could see the rough edges on the sleeve that only natural leather had.
"I think so."
Grover glanced at him, in his time at Yancy and all the time he'd been around him he'd learned that Theo avoided speaking unless he knew what he was talking about. He exchanged a glance with Percy whose eyes reflected the same worry.
"Lord Ares, why are you here?" Annabeth asked, inflicting as much respect as she could in her voice.
"Woah, wait." Percy made a time out gesture, "Ares? Like, Clarisse's dad?"
Theo perked up at the mention of Clarisse, he wouldn't admit out loud but he had come to admire the girl and her dedication to her role in this life they were all thrown into.
"You gave her the spear, right? The electric one." Theo shoved his earlier thoughts away and instead tried focusing on the quest.
Ares gave a wicked grin, "Sure did. Also gave her those knives that you've got in your belt."
Theo looked wide-eyed as Ares stated exactly where the throwing knives were on his person.
"Eat up, you punks are gonna need your strength for this next part."
"Next part?" Percy questioned, taking a bite of his cheeseburger as Grover immediately went to town on the enchiladas on the table.
"I need you to do me a favor."
"A favor?" Percy's eyes glinted as he began to feel the effects of Ares' aura, "What favor could I possibly do that a god can't."
"Something a god doesn't have time for himself. Nothing much, I just left my shield at an abandoned water park around here. I was on a little....date with my girlfriend. We were interrupted and I left my shield there. I need you to go fetch it for me."
"Why don't you go get yourself," Percy bit out.
Ares leaned forward and his sunglasses shifted, showing a bright fire in his eye sockets, "Why don't I turn you into a dog and run you over with my Harley? Because I don't feel like it."
Ares rolled his neck before addressing the table as a whole, "A god is giving you an opportunity to prove yourselves. Are you proving yourselves to be cowards?"
Now Theo was upset. He could handle people who acted far too childish for their ages but he would refuse to have someone who didn't know him to make judgements about him.
