It had been a few days since Percy's arrival and Theo was debating the pros and cons of drowning his best friend.

Obviously he knew his best friend couldn't drown but he thought it'd get the point across.

He could sympathise with Percy's position. After all, he wouldn't know how to feel after finding out he had a brother that was a cyclops.

He didn't know how to feel knowing that a cyclops was living in the camp either. He wanted to do the easy thing and hate him for being something Theo had been training all summer to kill, but Tyson was...kind.

He was young and innocent and naive and it was kind of impossible to wish harm upon.

Theo remembered seeing Tyson get claimed, and how his brown eye lit up with hope and didn't see how Percy's face dropped. Since then, Percy denied the baby cyclops as family behind his back. Claiming that it was some joke from Poseidon.

It hurt Theo a little bit, seeing how Percy treated his brother knowing that he wouldn't get the chance to be with the brother he had grown up with.

"Theo?" Clarisse asked, breaking him out of his thoughts.

Theo looked up from his spot against a tree trunk, "Sorry, got distracted. What's up?"

"Silena wants your set of hands to help out with the chariot."

Theo grinned up at her, "And you're fine with letting her steal your star pupil to help beat you?"

Clarisse let out a bark of laughter, "Punk, if you think that you could be at me after one lousy summer of training, think again."

"I bested you last week!" He protested.

"I let you. Silena would have killed me if you were late and that girl knows how to get revenge," Clarisse shuddered.

Theo chuckled as he sprung up. "Alright, I'll go check it out."

Clarisse sent him off with a salute.

As Theo walked towards the stables to meet his sister, he heard Percy's shout.

"He's not my brother! And he's not a monster either!"

Should he get involved or should he save himself. One glance at the lake and seeing ripples answered his question. He let out a sigh as he popped his neck, "Alrighty, peacekeeper mode on."

He arrived to see Annabeth's unimpressed eyebrow raise. Great, amazing sign that things were going well.

"Don't get mad at me. And technically, he is a monster."

"You let him into camp in the first place!"

Annabeth's face grew angry, crap. "Yeah, to save your life! I mean … I’m sorry, Percy, I didn’t expect Poseidon to claim him. Cyclopes are the most deceitful, treacherous-“

"He is not! What do you have against cyclopes anyway?"

Annabeth's mouth snapped shut. “Just forget it,” she said. “Now, the axle for this chariot-“

“You’re treating him like he’s this horrible thing,” Percy said. “He saved my life.”

Annabeth threw down her pencil and stood. “Then maybe you should design a chariot with him.”

“Maybe I should.”

“Fine!”

“Fine!”

Annabeth stormed off, barely acknowledging Theo as she went. Percy glanced behind him, sighing at the sight of his best friend. "How much of that did you hear?"
