Bruce walked silently with his siblings. He was thinking about yesterday. Vance was totally different from what he expected. People would speak as if Vance was some sort of monster, but that wasn't true. He was actually sort of nice. Sure, he definitely had some problems, but he's not like everyone said he was.
As the yamada's approached school, they all went their separate ways, and Bruce went to find Finney like he does any other day.
He sees Finney talking to his sister, Gwenny, at his locker.
"Hey Finney, hey Gwenny." Bruce greets. Gwen smiles at him.
"Hey, Bruce. Is Amy in?" Amy was the first thing Gwen always asked about. Bruce found it cute how inseparable they were. They were attached at the hip, or however the saying goes.
"Yeah. I think she's outside." He explains, and she nods. Her eyes practically gleaming.
"Thanks. Bye Finn!" She waves at them and leaves quickly, skipping down the hall.
"So, how was your date with Vance?" Finney had a massive grin on his face.
"It wasn't a date idiot." Bruce rolled his eyes. He would rather walk on hot lava than go on a date with Vance.
"Well, I'm glad you're alive." Finn laughs. His eyes trail off to someone behind Bruce as he suddenly goes quiet.
Bruce turns around to see who it is. And of course, the boy walking past was none of other than Robin Arellano. Finney had the biggest crush on him despite him being a senior and also Vance's best friend.
"You talk to him yet?" Bruce asks. He knows they've interacted before because afterwards, Finney wouldn't shut up about it and practically talked Bruce's brain off.
Finney frowned. "No. He could never like me back." Finney was a quiet kid and didn't stand out. He would only talk to someone if they said something first.
"Oh, come on! He totally likes you." Bruce says. He found it annoying how Finney could never see the physical proof.
"I don't know." He chewed on his nails nervously.
"Hey Finn, what's happening?" Bruce mocks, leaning against his locker, holding back his laughter.
"Stop it, you jerk!" Finney chuckled at the horrible impression of Robin.
The bell rings, and they go to lessons. Bruce had maths and sat at the front. Vance was in the same lesson but sat at the back. They were currently learning Pythagoras theorem, but Mr Johnson wasn't really good at explaining it, good thing Bruce understood it, though.
Whilst Bruce was writing notes, the person next to him tapped him. Grabbing his attention.
"It's for you." She whispers and hands him a folded up piece of paper.
Bruce opened it up and read what it said.
'Hey fuckhead can you come mine again? I have no fucking clue what this guy is on about!! -Vance'
Bruce scribbled a quick sure and passed it back telling the girl to give it to Vance.
Bruce watches as Vance reads the note. Vance looks up, and the two connect eyes. The same spiralling feeling from yesterday appeared in Bruce's stomach again, and timed seemed to slow. He didn't understand what it was. Vance mouths a small thank you and looks back down to his book.
"Bruce Yamada. Face the front." Mr Johnson demands.
"Sorry, sir." Bruce could hear a small laugh come from the back, and he knew it was Vance.
