Bruce's pov:
"So, he's not talking to you now?" Finney asked like I hadn't been explaining the whole situation over and over again.
"Yep. He's said like one word to me." I huffed. He wasn't even in the cafeteria. He was nowhere to be seen. I had a bad feeling in my stomach. Something was off.
"He's probably more freaked out than mad." Finney shrugged. "I know I would be." I hummed and nodded my head. That made sense.
"How's you and Robin?" I raised an eyebrow. His whole face seemed to light up at just the mention Robin.
"Good. I'm still a nervous wreck, though." He sighed. "I wish I could stay round his or something. But alas, I have to be home before 12 all the time, or my dad will get super mad." Finney had told me about his dad a few times. He had said how he wasn't all bad unless he was drinking. I remember the times Finney would come into school with small bruises. It made me mad. "He won't let me hang out with people he hasn't met."
"Why don't you just say you're staying around mine and then go to his." I suggested.
"Hey, that's not too bad of an idea." Me and Finn kept talking about random stuff, making the time pass. After a while, Finney took a look at his watch. "Bells about to ring. Let's go before we get stuck in people traffic." I got up and slung my bag over my shoulder.
"Yeah, come on." We left the cafeteria and into the hallways, but I guess everyone else had the same idea as there was a crowd forming.
"I think something is happening." Finney pointed out. "Come on, let's go check it out." He grabbed my arm, and we pushed through until we reached what everyone was staring at. "Holy shit." My eyes grew wide as I watched Vance and Kenji punching and kicking the shit out of each other. They were both beat up pretty badly. They were bleeding and bruised. It made me feel sick. I saw Kayla and Robin standing next to each other. One of them had to know why they were fighting. I rushed over to them, Finney following after.
"What's happening?" They both turned to me. They looked as clueless as me.
"We don't know." I chewed the inside of my cheek. This was bad. Very bad. "Kenji said he had to talk to Vance alone, and then we went to see how they were doing cause they were taking ages, and then we see this." Kayla explained. She looked upset. She hated seeing Kenji angry or in pain.
"We tried to stop them, but they're two stubborn asses." Robin laughed as he looked back to the fight. I watched as Vance took a knee to the ribbs. I cringed as I watched. Vance hissed in pain, and he grabbed his side. He panted hard.
"What the fuck Kenji!" Vance was about to throw another punch but before he could, a teacher grabbed the both of them.
"Vance Hopper, Kenji Yamada. I'm taking you two to the principles office." He declared as he began to drag them away. "Everyone else get to class." He ordered. The crowd quickly dispersed. I stood there confused. I really didn't expect when i woke up this morning that i would see my brother and my boyfriend have a fight.
"Bruce. Come on. We have to go to the lesson." Finney nudged my arm.
"Yeah, ok."
(Time skip)
The next day, Vance didn't show up to school. I was worried. He wasn't answering my calls, and Robin said he hadn't heard anything. Kenji wouldn't speak to me for some reason. He wouldn't even look at me, so the only way I was getting answers was if I went to Vance's house.
I knocked on the door, praying that he was there. I was a little nervous to find out what had actually happened, but I'm sure it was something stupid.
"Bruce?" He smiled as soon as he saw me. I practically dived into his arms, excited to actually see him. He was surprised, but he held my close, giving my body a squeeze, not letting my feet touch the ground. I grabbed his face and gave him kisses all over. I heard him laugh softly. "What's all this for?" He raised an eyebrow at me.
"You're alive." He chuckled as he gently put me down on the floor, keeping his arms around me.
"Yeah, I am." He went in for another kiss, but I slapped him on his already bruised face. "Ow! the fuck?" Vance stared at me like i was insane.
"That's for fighting my brother." I said sternly. He scoffed at me.
"You're crazy!"
"I've been worried sick about you." I frowned. I looked over the damage. His left eye was turning a deep purple, and it was puffy. He had a large cut on his jaw from Kenji's rings. "Jeez. He got you bad." I said as I ran my thumb under his eyes.
"It looks worse than it feels." He tried to convince me, but I didn't believe it. I knew he was just trying to look tough.
"So, are you going to tell me what happened?" He sighed, looking resistant to tell me.
"Kenji didn't tell you?" He tilted his head.
"Nope. He won't even look at me." It was weird. The house was awkward and tense, and I feel bad for Amy. She's trying her hardest to get him to talk to me, but he won't budge. I hate for he to be in the middle of this.
"He knows about us." My heart hurt. Now I knew why he was ignoring me. I knew he wasn't going to tell anyone. That wasn't him. But the thought of him knowing terrifies me. "It slipped out when we were talking, and he went crazy." I nodded. "When we went to the principal, he suspended me and just gave Kenji a warning."
"I'm sorry about Kenji. I'll speak to him. He can't ignore me forever."
A/n: this chapter's so bad I literally wanna cry but oh well. Also someone remind me never to drink a bunch of wine in one go again 😭😭
