Bruce stared at his ceiling. It was currently 4 a.m., and he hadn't got an ounce of sleep. It was nothing unusual. His brain just wouldn't shut up, so he couldn't sleep. He couldn't stop thinking about what Kenji said about Vance. About how Vance could drag him down. Bruce hadn't really seen Vance in a bad state, and he wanted it to stay that way. Bruce was worried. He was worried that Kenji was right. He had probably seen how bad it could get. He shook his head. He knew Vance. He wouldn't hurt him. Would he?

Bruce sighed as he got up. He wanted to run. Running was the only thing that cleared his mind. He quickly got changed into sweats, slipping on his trainers and sneaking down the stairs. He opened the door, closing it behind him. The cold air immediately hit his face, nipping away at his skin. He took a shivering breath before starting to lightly jog. It was still dark out. The only source of light he had was from the poorly lit lamp-posts. They really needed to be changed. The roads were practically empty. Only a few cars and a black van (probably coming back from a night shift) seemed to pass Bruce. He liked Denver like this. All quiet. He kept running until he reached the beginning of a forest. The trees were tall and swung slowly through the wind. It was kind of creepy, so Bruce headed back.

Bruce was happy to see his parents' car parked outside. They were finally back. He quickly went inside, heads turned in his direction. He smiled as he saw his grandmother. He couldn't believe his eyes.

"Oh, Bruce!" She smiled.

"Obaasan!" He hugged her tightly. He hadn't seen her since Christmas, five years ago. She laughed as she hugged him back.

"Anata wa totemo seichō shimashita." Bruce tilted his head in confusion. He had low-key forgotten Japanese. "I said, you've grown." Bruce nodded. "You and Kenji are both so handsome." She pinched Bruce's cheek.

"Okay, mum. Bruce has school tomorrow. He has to sleep and you have to rest." Mrs Yamada spoke, interrupting their conversation. Bruce's grandmother sighed.

"Night all." With that, Bruce's parents helped her walk towards the guest room. In all honesty, she didn't look great. Bruce started to wonder what she was doing there. He would just have to ask sometime tomorrow.

(Time skip)

During the start of lunch, Bruce entered the cafeteria. He scanned through the busy crowds and saw Finney and Robin at their normal table. He walked over and sat down. Robin had been hanging around Bruce and Finney more as Vance wasn't in. Bruce didn't mind even though he felt like a third wheel.

"Hey, guys." Bruce smiled as he pulled out his lunch. Finney and Robin stopped their conversation to greet Bruce.

"Hey, you seen Vance?" Robin asked him. Bruce had told them that he was gunna check on him and say how he's doing.

"Yeah, I saw him yesterday. He's coming back in on Friday." Bruce explained simply. He noticed that Robin had a certain look on his face. Like he was nervous. "Are you ok?"

"Has Vance told you about Roxy?" Bruce shook his head. Why would he? "Vance is my best friend, but I can't keep lying to you. Vance has been keeping something from you." Robin bit his lip, worried that Bruce was going to take it the wrong way. Bruce's heart started racing, and he was scared to hear what it was.

"Keeping what." Robin sighed as he began to explain.
