Chapter 22

"I'll always call you, mamè." I bid goodbye to my grandmother.

I decided to stay here in Italy for good, I don't wanna leave Rain alone. The death of her parents still fresh and I'm afraid that she'll feel lonely.

I'm also grieving right now but Rain needs me more.

Alam kong may mga kaibigan siyang maaasahan pero mas mapapanatag ako kung masasamahan ko siya, mabuti nalang at nakapag-tapos na ako ng pag-aaral.

I'll just continue my masteral and doctorate here.

As the days passed, I noticed that Rain was purposely avoiding me. I thought we were okay, pero akala ko lang pala yun. Mukha tama ang hinala ko na galit nga ito sa akin, sa tuwing ina-approached ko siya ay mabilis siyang tumatakbo palayo at nagkukulong lamang sa kwarto.

Gusto kong bumawi sa kanya, I want to make up the years that we're away from each other. I may not be her sister by blood but I treated her as one.

I promise myself that I'll protect her and love her.

Hindi ko man alam kung may sakit ba siya o ano kasi pinapalayo siya sa akin ni Tita Carol ay sisiguraduhin kong poprotektahan ko siya.

And also, I decided not to tell her the truth that I'm not really her sister. I just learned that Tita Carol and Dad Alejandro lied to her about the truth.

There's still a lot I need to know but for now I need to focus on Rain.

"R-Rain!!!" I called for her name but she's pretending that she didn't heard me, she just got home from her school.

Sinundan ko siya ng tingin, mabilis ang mga hakbang nito paakyat ng hagdan. She'll probably locked herself again inside her room, at saka lang siya lalabas kapag nasa kwarto na ako.

It's hurting me but I need to be patient eventhough I don't have one,

for her I'll try.

"Can you please re-heat these foods later when Rain decided to go down." utos ko dun sa katulong nila dito sa bahay.

"Si, Senorita."

What if she'll know that we're not actually sisters by blood? Is she going to accept me?

I bet not.

Considering her treatment to me right now.

One night, I decided to knocked on her room. I couldn't take it anymore. It's been a month and she's still avoiding me.

I thought she won't open the door but she did and at that night, I was the happiest because for the first time she called me 'Ate.'

"Oh. I've been waiting for the day that I'll finally be able to hear my sister calling me 'Ate'." sighing in relief, I hugged her tightly again because of the happiness I felt.

It's like a dream come true.

Afraid that she'll going to avoid me after this, I speak again. "Don't avoid me again, okay?" I sadly mumbled. "I don't really know what to do, Rain.
Hindi ko alam kung paano ka iaapproach dahil sa tuwing lumalapit ako sayo ay lumalayo ka." I added, still hugging her.

"I'm really sorry, Ate. I promise I won't do it again."

I nodded my head as I pulled away from the hug. "I love you, Rain." I sincerely said after kissing her forehead softly.
