Daisuke burst through the hospital doors, his heart pounding in his chest as he cradled the unconscious Dani in his arms. "Someone, please help me!" he called out desperately, his voice echoing through the sterile corridors.
A flurry of activity ensued as several nurses rushed to his aid, their faces a mix of concern and urgency. "What happened, sir?" one of the nurses inquired, her voice tinged with alarm.
"We were talking, and then she suddenly couldn't breathe and blacked out," Daisuke explained rapidly, his words tumbling out in a rush.
The nurse nodded, furrowing her brow in concern. "Does she have any medical conditions we should know about?" she asked.
"She has asthma," Daisuke replied, his voice tense with worry. "But I don't know where her inhaler is. I just got into town a couple of hours ago," he added hastily, his mind racing with anxiety.
The nurse nodded in understanding before swiftly issuing orders to her colleagues. "Okay, go find Dr. Kim and tell him we have a flare-up," she instructed one of the nurses, her tone decisive. Then, turning back to Daisuke, she asked, "How long has she been unconscious?"
"Only a few minutes," Daisuke responded, his voice tinged with urgency. "As soon as she hit the floor, I ran to the hospital."
"We're going to go treat her now," the nurse assured him. Then she left.
...
Dani's family was gathered in their living room, the television's ambient glow casting flickering shadows across their faces. Suddenly, Mrs. Kang's phone rang, breaking the tranquil atmosphere. Glancing down at the screen, she furrowed her brows in confusion. "That's weird," she remarked.
Her husband, Mr. Kang, glanced up from his spot on the couch, concern etched into his features. "What is it, hun?" he inquired.
"It's Daisuke calling," she replied, her tone tinged with surprise as she rose from her seat and answered the call. "Hello? Dai-chan, I didn't know you were back in town. Dani never talks to me any-"
"Aunty," Daisuke's voice interrupted from the other end.
Mrs. Kang's heart skipped a beat at Daisuke's serious tone. "Yes, Daisuke?" she responded, her concern growing.
She heard the boy sigh heavily before continuing, "Dani's in the hospital. She started having one of her asthma attacks, and then she passed out. They're saying that she-"
"What hospital are you at?" Mrs. Kang interjected, her maternal instincts kicking into overdrive.
"Ansan, on the..." Daisuke began before Mrs. Kang abruptly ended the call, her mind racing with worry.
"Dani's in the hospital," she called out to her family, her voice trembling with concern. "We need to go... I have to call her girls... I..."
"Hun," Mr. Kang intervened, reassuringly touching her arm. "Let's go. We'll do that on the way."
"What about Dae-Hyun and Do-Yoon?" Mrs. Kang asks, her thoughts scattered as she grapples with the situation's urgency.
"I'll call the babysitter on the way there, but right now, Dani needs us," her husband explained calmly, his steady demeanor offering a sense of reassurance amidst the chaos.
Mrs. Kang nodded, her mind reeling with worry as she reached for the keys. However, before she could take a step, Mr. Kang swiftly intercepted them, a mischievous glint in his eye.
"We don't need to be in the hospital with her," he teased lightly before quickly making his way to the door. This left Mrs. Kang momentarily stunned before she followed suit, her heart heavy with concern for her daughter.
