The drive to Angela's was long and quiet. Neither of us said anything, we both just stared forward. How could he have escaped- it doesn't make sense. There is criminals that are so much smarter than him that wouldn't even dream of escaping.. So why did he?
My guess would be to finish what he started. He didn't have anyone outside of that hell hole, someone out here that could finish the job so he had to finish it himself. He had to get that satisfaction of ending it once and for all.
But that's not going to happen. I'm not going to let that happen. I look at Angela. Debating whether to say what's on my mind. "Angela-" I start. Her head turns to my direction. I swallow, my throat dry. "Let me work this case with you, let me help.." I finish, my shoulders dropping.
Angela sighs "Ava this case is too close to you, if you even let your guard down for one second he could get to you-" I interrupt as soon as she starts. "Angela please. I have to do this. Not for me. But for his victims and their families. Please..."
I finish, taking a deep breath at the end. Angela just stared at me. I saw her eyes soften as she saw how badly I needed to do this. "Fine- you can help- but Grey wont be happy if anything happens to you"
I nod and thank her, facing the front again. This is my chance, to help those families, to give them the closer that they had but has since been ripped away from them.

"So? what have we got so far?" I ask. Stood in the briefing room with Angela, Nyla, Tim and Grey. Angela turns the screen on and begins explaining. "Rufus escaped at 15:24 on Monday. He got the bus to a safe house of his at 82nd on Rowing. He was seen by a patrol officer leaving the safe house at 8am yesterday but we have lost sight of him and haven't seen him since." She finishes. I sigh and sit down in one of the seats.
"We have over 1000 cops looking for him" Nyla contributes. I nod. "Anything I can do?" I question. Grey shakes his head. "The only thing you can do right now is keep safe and on the down low- if you go out and word gets out about it then he will be onto you" Grey states.
"Okay- is there any paperwork or anything I can do?" I ask. "Wow- never thought Ava would willingly ask to do paperwork" Angela jokes. I smile. "Yeah well what else is there for me to do if I cant help" I shrug.
"Let me see what I can get for you" Grey says. I thank him as him, Angela and Nyla walk out. Leaving me and Tim in the room alone. I put my head in my hands, leaning on the table. I feel a hand gently being placed on my shoulder... then I feel it start to rub my back. I sigh, the tension I was holding so tightly in my shoulders, slightly releasing at the sense of Tim's touch.
"It'll be fine you know.." Tim says from behind me. I life my head up and look at him. He stares in my eyes for a second before pulling the chair out next to me and sitting down. "How do you know it'll ne fine Tim- I-I cant go through that again- I could have died- and what about the families of his other victims- what if we don't find him?!" I exclaim in a wind of frustration and scaredness.
"Hey- hey Ava calm down-" He reached his hands to mine, cupping them. "It will be fine- we will find him no matter what it takes- okay?" He reassures me. I nod, using my sleeve to wipe away the tears that were threatening to spill, the tears I hadn't realised were there until now.
We sit there, hands in hands for a while, I didn't want to move and Tim was fine with it. After a while Grey walks in with a few files. I sigh and take my hands out of Tim's, which I didn't want to do, to take the files from Grey. I thank him and watch him walk out before turning back to the table.
