The next couple of shifts dragged on for Ava, now she wasn't saying she didn't enjoy working alongside Angela, she was just counting down the days until someone working for Rufus, someone lurking in the shadows, would find a way to get to her, find a way inside her head.

It was all about mind games with these types of people.. the people like Rufus. Yes they used physical violence as well, as Ava knew better than any of the other cops, but they would twist and turn their way into your mind, and to Ava.. that was worse than any physical pain.

Ava was sat at the desk opposite from Angela's when Grey called a meeting. She got up and walked into the briefing room, standing at the back. Her eyes flicked through every single cop that entered, she knew she was safe in the station, that anyone that came in was checked at the door, but she couldn't drop the feeling, the feeling of paranoia.

"As we know." Grey started, Ava drew her focus back to her Sargant. "Rufus was taken into custody a few days ago.." Greys eyes flashed over to the female stood at the back of the room, he pulled them away, carrying on his speech. "During night shift, we had eyes on someone that Rufus was in close contact with, but we couldn't place him in relation to the crimes committed. Some information was found, that could possibly link the two, so patrol will only focus on that today. These men need to be behind bars. Dismissed." Grey finished.

Ava stayed stood at the back as she watched everyone leave to get on with their shifts as if it was a normal day.. to them it was. To Ava, its the day she's been waiting for since she was taken. A few people had asked if she was okay as they passed, to which she replied the same to everyone.

"I'm fine"

Which clearly wasn't the truth, but compared to the past few weeks? She was feeling on top of the world..

She looked up to see Grey looking at her, almost studying her. He walked towards her and paused as he got closer. "Ava, are you sure that you're okay? What you went through wasn't easy.."

"Sarge.. I'm fine.." Was all she replied before walking out of the briefing room and back to her desk, where she was doing security checks on some people. In all honesty she was fed up of people asking her if she was okay.. or if she needed anything. She knew they were just being kind, all she wanted was for it to stop- the questions, the sympathy looks, the gifts, the thoughts.

She just wanted to be normal again.
