Loud and rushed footsteps are repeatedly echoing in the room. It was early in the morning and a lot of staff were now in active mode to prepare for the big event. As the time was running, their pressures grew restless.
On the contrary, Seraphina was sitting on the vanity while facing a big mirror. She was looking so peaceful and calm, while her designer and make up artist was doing their job perfectly while catching the time.
There are only 30 minutes left, before their wedding. And they have just already started to prepare the bride, just because Seraphina did her work first, before the preparation of her.
The rants of her mother and father went deaf inside her ears. She just looked at the mirror with a blank face, looking like an emotionless person.
Outside of her calm and reserved face, none of the people knew how big and heavy the storm was inside her heart. The calmness was all just a facade, none of them knew what she was feeling.
"We have only ten minutes left!" One of the staff yelled, alerting some people to double their work. The church was a 30 car ride, and they for sure knew that the bride was already late for her upcoming wedding.
Seraphina stared at the large window, it was opened widely. 'Should I run away?' Seraphina thought to herself. But then remembered, they are in the hotel, on the 29th floor. She doesn't want to get married, but she treasured her life more.
She looked at her reflection in the mirror. She was wearing a white gown with some jewelry that was basically not her type, but her mom's type. She scoffed mentally. Her makeup was not heavy, it was light, it was perfect just the way she likes. Fortunately, she requested the make up artist to do some light make up for her, before the make up artist could obey her mom's command to do my make up that the way she likes.
"Seraphina, we need to go now." The staff said while assisting her and the length of her gown. "Why are you moving so slow, Seraphina? Double your pace!" Her mother whispered while yelling at Seraphina. "Don't let the emotions get through you." Again, Seraphina's mother stated with some pointless message.
"The gown is heavy. And don't you invalidate what I was going through right now, because in the first place, I don't want this marriage." Seraphina uttered angrily while glaring at her mother with a firey eyes. Her mother immediately replied back, but it immediately got cut off by Seraphina. "One more word from your mouth, and I will not hesitate to run away from my own lovely wedding." And with that, Seraphina walked away leaving her Mom standing like a statue in the middle of the hotel's hallway.
Seraphina was mad, but she was way more madder than before. She was fuming in rage. Her sweats are now starting to form, the air conditioner of the van wasn't helping either, luckily, her make up stylist has brought a mini fan to keep her make up fresh.
Seraphina gripped at her wedding gown tightly, still reminiscing about the previous events that happened earlier. She can't believe how self-centered her mom really is. She even forced her daughter to marry a stranger without any mental support to cope with her emotions. And, now... Seraphina was really disappointed in her own mother.
The traffic was heavy. All of the people that were in the van were very stressed. They were extremely late, 25 minutes late! Their phones were now ringing endlessly trying to connect to the bride wanting to confirm that the bride wouldn't run from her own wedding.
Meanwhile, Seraphina closes her eyes and tries to find peace ignoring the pressure of the staff inside the van. She wouldn't mind being late at her own wedding, nor couldn't attend her own wedding. She doesn't mind at all even if the wedding will get canceled. She smiled at that thought. Forgetting the previous event that had happened earlier.
While she was closing her eyes, she felt that the van was now moving without any disturbance and stops. It feels like the traffic was immediately gone in a second. When she opened her eyes, she saw that there were numerous police cars and vans leading them, making all the vehicles move to the other side if that was possible.
"What's happening? Why are there some police leading us?" Seraphina asked the staff due to the curiosity, making sure that she was not imagining things.
"Mr. Zachariah Ashford sent them to us to clear the roads." The staff smiled brightly at Seraphina. Their stress faces were now gone, replacing a smile in the corner of their lips. The staff shared some squeals about the couple, making Seraphina groaned silently in annoyance.
She was closed at her peak of freedom, her wedding was almost cancelled. She was in joy earlier, thinking that this nightmare will finally go away. But, that Zachariah made a plan in less than a matter of seconds using his power and connections.
Seraphina's POV
I stared through the glass and wishes for the time to go slow or wishes for the driver to go slow. I don't know, but I want this moment to go slow, so I still can prepare myself for this big upcoming change of my life.
I stared at the birds who were flying in the air. They look in content while having their freedom. I wished that my life would've been the same just like the birds. They have any freedom to go to the other places without anyone stopping them. While myself, I felt like a puppet to my family and their expectations.
And now, I am getting glued in just some hours by a man that is like a stranger to me. Getting glued, no freedom. All humans has the right to choice to their life, but I can't.
I wanted to have some peace as well, but I am glued to the company, still living at my expectations from my parents. None of my wishes in my life has ever been come true, due to the lack of freedom. My life is always revolving about work. But, it's okay for me, but marriage? Feels like I am lost.
End of POV
The mindful thoughts of Seraphina breaks when the van halted in a sudden. She was about to ask if there was something wrong, but when she looked at the glass, she finally realized... she has finally arrived at her own wedding.
