The call ended after that. There was only one park near my house. It was 2 miles away but I guess that's where I ended up. 10 minutes later Jc's car pulled up to the curb. I was sitting on the swing, it was pitch black. The street lamps glowed brightly but the stars were even brighter. The clouds covered most of the moon. And I sat there, on the swing, sitting on world that seemed so still even when constantly spinning round and round and round.
I heard Jc sit down beside me. It took me a few minutes but I finally said something.
"I'm sorry."
"For what?"
"For making you come out here so late."
"You didn't make me do anything. I came here because I wanted to. I wanted to be here with you... for you."
"She got in and accident." I said it so suddenly. I didn't even glance at him once. I was staring at my shoes, kicking around the tan bark, my cheeks were wet from my tears of fear. Fearing what had happened and what the possibilities were.
"Who did? What kind of accident?"
"My mom." I felt his sudden warmth. His arms wrapped tightly around me, giving me comfort and the feeling of safety. His warm touch, made me feel better... it made me happy. I was happy... until I remembered. "What if I lose her?"
"She will be okay."
"But what if she's not? I can't lose the only person who has been there for me and with me through everything... I can't. She's all I have left!" I had tears streaming down my face. He wiped my cheeks with the sleeve of his jacket and told me this,
"Even if you were to lose her... You have you best friend, your uncle l, your brother... And me. You won't be alone. I will never leave your side." He kissed my cheek and brought me to his car. "Ill bring you home and take you to the hospital in the morning. We will see what happens after that."
I nodded and got in he car. When we for to my house he walked me inside. Jc sat down next to me on the couch as I laid down. Jc waited until I fell asleep before he left. That night, I had realized something that changed my life forever.
