Chapter 14

I kept waking up in the middle of the night from the nightmares. I woke up for the third time from the worst of them all. I couldn't go back to sleep with the thoughts that I had running through my mind. It's was around 4:30am so I knew I couldn't try and call or text Jc. I knew if I did he would come over right away, but I didn't want to be such a burden and after I already kept him up late he was already only getting a couple of hours of sleep. I just laid on the couch. Millions of thoughts and scenarios went through my mind.         Why would this happen to me?
It was biggest question that I had. What had I done or my mother done to deserve this. I couldn't stand it any longer I needed someone to make all my thoughts go away. I needed someone to distract me from reality. I couldn't talk to Jc since he's done so much already, I couldn't talk to my uncle since he doesn't know anything has happened, Lindsey I would also have to explain to.... I didn't know what to do so I continued to lay there. The time went by slowly. I watched the clock, counting the seconds that went by just to keep me busy. It was almost 6. It seemed like a reasonable time and I didn't have anyone else that knew of my situation, so I picked up my phone and called Jc.

      It rang... And rang... And rang... 3 rings before he picked up. Each time it rang I felt worse for waking him up.
"Are you okay?" I could hear in his voice that he was tired.
"I'm sorry..."
"You know, you can't apologize every time you need something... I'm here for you. I'm not going anywhere."
"Thank you. I needed that. And I'm sorry to wake you up... Um.. Never mind I'm sorry. Oh gosh sorry I keep doing that. Oh my god. Sor- ugh ok bye." I heard his laugh from the other line. Just the sound of him makes me smile. He makes me so happy. He makes such terrible things just... Disappear.
"See you soon." Jc said right before he hung up. I assumed he meant see you soon as in later when we go to the hospital so I put down my phone again and tried to fall back asleep.

    I guess I fell asleep because I was woken up by the warmth of Jc's hand. He carried me up to my room and set me in my bed.
"Jc... what are you doing here?"
"I missed you." He gave me a sweet smile and he talked in a smooth low tone. I noticed he was wearing what I assumed were his pajamas. He drove over to my house in his pajamas just to check up on me. I felt him lay down next to me. I curled up facing him. He put and arm around my waist and kissed my cheek.
"Thank you for being here with me."
"I couldn't think of a better place to be than to be here with you."
There was silence for a while and right before I fell asleep I spoke softly and almost whispered.
"I love you."
I heard him reply, "I have always loved you." I smiled and kissed him
"Goodnight." I whispered back at him and he pulled me closer. I closed my eyes and fell asleep with a smile on my face.
