Silence had filled the room for quite some time, and Kaoru’s shirt now had a slight wet patch where my tears had fallen. He still sat stroking my hair whenever I would make a noise that indicated I might start crying again, and until I lifted my head up I didn’t even realise that Honey was there too, rubbing my back and uttering comforting words, but looking agitated.
“Thankyou,” I whispered, my voice cracking. Honey smiled slightly, turning his head as the door creaked open to reveal the drama king. Kaoru stood up and took him out immediately, leaving only me and Honey. He put his hand on my shoulder very lightly,
“I’ll keep teaching you, but you have to stop acting like that with other people in public, kay?” I frowned, “Only Kao-chan and Hika-chan. No one else. You make them sad when you do” I shook my head.
“Not….not, Hik..” I trailed off as Honey placed his finger on my lips with a smile.
“That’s okay, just Kaoru then, kay?” I nodded slowly as he let his hand drop.
Someone stood over him, watching us,
“Why don’t you just tell me?” his muffled whisper asked, I bit my lip waiting for him to yell at me again, but he didn’t. He sat down next to me, but I pulled myself into Honey to keep a bit of distance. Honey’s arms wrapped around me, and pushed Hikaru back whenever he was getting too close. After a few attempts to reach out to me, Hikaru gave up and just sat looking at the floor.
“Why don’t you tell her first,” Honey suggested with a broad smile on his face, “Then maybe she would understand,” Hikaru looked up with a horrified look on his face, and simply shook his head. I looked up at him, suddenly curious. What was Honey talking about? What should Hikaru tell me and would it really explain what had happened? I sat up, pulling myself away from Honey ever so slightly.
“What?” I asked shakily, Hikaru gave a Honey a stern look,
“Nothing” he replied getting up and leaving the room. I frowned, now even more confused, then looked up to Honey questioningly, but he only shook his head. I allowed myself to fall back into Honey again, and focused on just catching my breath back, and eventually, I had gone back to normal. Well, at least as normal as I could be with puffy red eyes, and tears tracks down my face.
Honey shifted me off him, and stood up holding his hand out to me, I took it slightly and allowed him to pull me up.
“It’ll be okay, I promise” he chanted. A small smile crossed my lips, and I gave a weak nod. Honey took my hand and dragged me out into the music room. Haruhi gave me a disgusted look, whilst everyone apart from the twins acted as though I wasn’t there. Hikaru gave me a quick guilty look before finding interest in his feet, whilst Kaoru mirrored my weak smile.
“I’ll walk home,” I told the twins, breaking the deathly silence,
“But your ankle” Kaoru put forward,
“Hasn’t hurt all day” I replied truthfully. In all of the day’s events I had completely forgotten about my ankle. Kaoru opened his mouth to reason with me, but Honey cut him off.
“It’s okay, we’ll drive you home Karin, we want to fix up your bandages anyway, right Takeshi?” Mori nodded. Kaoru copied the action awkwardly then nudged his brother towards the door; the twins were soon followed by the rest of the host club and guests, leaving only the three of us in the room.
I sat down on the couch and called Honey over,
“Honey, Could I hold your hand again, if that’s okay?” I asked quietly, I suddenly had the fear that he would say no, but he nodded and took my hand interlocking our fingers. I looked down at our hands, quite contempt until I felt Mori undoing my bandages. I felt sick and found myself focusing on Honey’s grip to keep myself from being too afraid.
