Niall yelped and jumped awake as he heard the sound of the door being slammed. He frowned and looked around, rubbing his eyes so they could get adjusted to the harsh overhead light. It had been hard enough to try and get to sleep with the bright environment. Niall looked around and noticed that every other hybrid was at the front of their cells. crouching over something and eating. Nialls gaze then fell on a tray of food that was on the floor, that hadnt been there before.

The pup got up and walked over, grimacing a little at the slim offering. There was a bottle of water, a half green banana, and a single slice of bologna on two pieces of white bread. Niall pushed the tray away. He was too anxious to eat.

Niall just sat back and sighed, watching the other hybrids around him. It was surprising to see just how fast all of them ate their food and retreated back to their cells walls. Niall looked around the room curiously. Everyone was done eating. Well, almost everyone.

Nialls breath hitched as he saw a small figure crouched in the cells next to him. It was another puppy hybrid! Only this hybrid looked to be about three or four years old. He had dark skin and uneven fluffy brown hair on his head. Niall could see two black ears poking out of his hair and a short little black tail poking out of the elastic on his pants.

The boy was struggling to eat. He was one of the few hybrids who still had a muzzle on. Probably because he hadn't learned how to take it off. After all, Niall hadn't learned how to do that until he was a teenager.

"Hey." Niall called, walking over to the shared chain link fencing between their cells. They boy acted as if he didnt hear him. Though Niall could see one of his little ears turn . "Hi. I'm Niall. Do you need help getting your muzzle off?" The boy turned his head finally and narrowed his eyes. He had a peice of bread lodged into one of the holes of the muzzle, trying to force it through.

"Its okay. I just want to help. See?" Niall offered, sticking his arm through the chain link.

"I wouldn't, if I were you, mate." The cat hybrid on the other side of the boy said, lounging on his cot lazily. "Hes in here for nearly biting off his last owners cock. Or at least thats what Ive been told." He shrugged.

Niall narrowed his eyes. "Well if that part of him hadnt been out or anywhere near a CHILDS mouth, Im sure the man would have been fine." He huffed, his arm still inside the cage of the hybrid. His attention snapped back to the boy as he felt the metal of the muzzle against his hand. The boy was now standing in arms reach of Niall, eyeing him cautiously.

Niall offered him a smile, easily unlatching the muzzle at the back of his head. He noted to himself that the boys hair was matted. It looked like it hadnt been brushed in a while.

As soon as the muzzle was loose, the boy pulled it off and let out a noise of releif. Niall couldnt help but cry out in surprise as he saw the boys jaw was fucked up. He had a bit of an underbite on his right side, as if his jaw had been broken, then healed off center.

"Oh, yea. His second to last owner did that. Returned him with a busted jaw. Im guessing he bit him one too many times." The cat hybrid chuckled. "Guess he still hasnt learned his lesson on biting." Niall glared at the cat hybrid.

"That isnt funny. He's a child."

"He's a hybrid. Hes property like you and me." The cat huffed. "Learn to stop getting attached, learn to stop being shocked by humans cruelness. It only upsets you. Humans dont care if you find them repulsive or repugnant. They dont care if they treat you in a dignified manner or not." The cat shrugged, rolling on his side. "Its a hard truth. puppy."

Niall frowned, staring at the cat hybrids back. "...quite the vocabulary you got for a common cat hybrid."

The cat hybrid shrugged again, but didnt say anything. Niall sighed and looked back down at the boy. The puppy hybrid was crouched down, scarfing the food on his tray.
