Liam pet his fingers through Niall's hair as Niall sat practically glued to his lap. They were in the waiting room. He could feel the puppy hybrid trembling a little. He rubbed Niall's back with his other hand.

"It's okay, my puppy." Liam cooed. "You're such a good boy. My good brave boy." He said. Niall sniffled and his tail wagged weakly. Liam was letting him play games mindlessly on his phone. He knew the poor boy was terrified. It wasn't just that it was a doctor, it was that it the kind of doctor that they were going to see that bothered Niall.

"I'm gonna be in the room the whole time. The most the doctor is gonna do is just touch your middle. It'll mostly be questions." Liam promised. Niall nodded, though he didn't look any more comforted than before. Liam sighed a bit, glancing at the clock on the wall. They had been waiting for a solid twenty minutes. Niall seemed to be getting more and more fretful as the time went on.

Finally, a nurse came out and called Nialls name. Niall whimpered a bit but got up. He kept a death grip on Liams hand as he followed the man back to the doctors office. Liam rubbed Niall's hand with this thumb, ignoring how tightly Niall was holding him. He was just proud that Niall had gotten this far.

"The doctor will be in shortly." The nurse nodded after taking Nialls vitals and marking them down on a rolling cart with a laptop on it.

Niall took a deep breath, still shaking a bit.

"Baby...Whats the worst thing that could happen?" Liam asked gently. Niall just shrugged and shook his head.

"Its just hard being here." He muttered. "I know nothings going to happen but...I just want to go home" Niall let out a soft whine. Liam nodded, and kissed the top of his head.

"I know, puppy." Liam cooed a bit. The doctor came in and Nialls demeanor changed entirely when he saw that the doctor was a woman.

"You're not a man." Niall said, sitting up a bit more, less tucked against Liam. The woman chuckled and furrowed her brows together.

"No, I'm not. Thank you for noticing." She offered him a smile. Liam could feel a lot of the tension drain from Nialls body.

"Have you ever been pregnant? Do you have any babies? Is that why youre a pregnancy doctor?" Niall started to ask questions rapid fire. The doctor waited for him to take a breath before answering.

"Yes, I have been pregnant. No, I have no babies. I have an adopted son but he's not really a baby. And I became a obstetrician to try and help support people like me who have had hard pregnancies." She explained. Nialls ears went down.

"You lost babies?" Niall asked, moving completely off Liam's lap and into the next chair. Liam had to admit that he was a little relieved that Niall was not clinging onto him. He was getting holes in his shirt from Nialls claws.

"I have had unsuccessful pregnancies, yes. But lets talk about you. On your chart I see that it says youve been pregnant once?" She asked, sitting down on a small rolling stool.

Niall frowned. "I don't want to talk about that." Niall muttered. Liam reached over and took his hand.

"Baby, that is the whole reason we're here." Liam reminded him in a gentle tone. Niall nodded and pouted a bit. He looked down and picked at his fingers.

"I had one pregnancy when I was 15...It was with me and my old owner." Niall said quietly. "I got to the seventh month and...and I was bleeding really badly. And I told my owner but he was too drunk to care. He told me we'd go in the morning. And that I better not get blood anywhere. " Niall sniffled a little, holding Liam's hands. "I was so terrified. I knew something was wrong. Something just felt...wrong. I ..I ended up stealing his keys and I drove myself to the hospital. I didnt know how to drive. I just. . . did the best I could. I had seen him drive and I knew the hospital was about a mile down the road. I had walked there after he dislocated my arm about two months earlier."
