Niall sniffled; his hands bound in front of him. His ears were flat and hidden in his hair. The puppy hybrid was being dragged from the police car, and into the back of a brick building. He wasn't sure what was going on. He just knew that he was in a lot of trouble.

"I'm sorry." He whined out. "I'm really really sorry. I want to go home now. Please." He begged the officer pulling him along. The muzzle was tight on his face and the metal against his skin was starting to hurt. The man acted as if he couldn't hear Niall's pleas. He shoved him forward, handing him off to another man.

"I'll fill out the paperwork, fax it to the police department." The officer said. "Like I said on the phone, he's a biter. Put him in the back until someone can assess him."

"Will do." The other man hummed. He looked Niall up and down, holding him roughly by the forearm. "So you like to bite, hmm?" He asked, turning and dragging Niall once more. Niall followed as best he could, looking around to try and get a feel for where he was.

He knew he was in a shelter of some kind, but he wasn't sure where. This didn't look anything like any of the shelters that he had ever been in before. This place was cold and just felt...off.

Suddenly they turned into a back room. Niall swallowed hard as he saw the large rectangular holding cells that lined the walls on either side of a long walkway. They were squares of thick chain link fencing on top of a floor of concrete. Each little square had a door with a lock, an uncomfortable looking cot in the back.

They looked like prison cells.

"I don't want to go in there. Please, please!" Niall whined sharply as the man opened the door to one of the cells. He yelped sharply as the worker hit him in the back of his head.

"Shut it." He scoffed. He undid Niall's bindings and all but threw him into the enclosure. Niall whimpered and nearly fell on his face. He caught himself last minute, flinching as the door slammed behind him. He could feel the tears building in his eyes.

"I'm sorry." Niall whimpered out again. "I'm sorry, please let me go home. I want Lia-"

"SHUT IT!" The man shouted, banging his hand on the fencing. Niall sniffled and flinched away. The man turned and strode away, back through the door they came in, slamming the door behind him. Niall wiped his eyes and sniffled again, reaching behind his head and pulling the muzzle off. His heart was aching. He just wanted Liam.

"Someone's been a bad puppy." A voice snickered from further down the row of cells. Niall frowned and glanced over. His eyes met the gaze of a smirking cat hybrid. His tail was broken and half naked, and one of his ears was nearly sliced off.

"I'm not a bad puppy." Niall argued, trying to force the tears away with sheer will power. "I-I'm good. That man was hurting my friend. He was gonna take-"

"I literally don't care." The hybrid rolled his eyes. "You're here. So you're bad. That's all that matters. This is where the bad, unadoptable hybrids go." The cat hybrid shrugged. He was in the cell two cells down from Niall.

At first appearances, the cell between them looked empty. However, Niall noticed a small mound under the blanket on the cot. He wasn't sure what kind of hybrid was in the cell between them, but he didn't feel like trying to find out right now.

"I have an owner." Niall argued softly, sitting down on the cot. He sniffled and wiped his nose. "he's going to come get me, any time now."

"Ha." The cat hybrid scoffed. "Your owner doesn't want you. Why would he let you get taken? You're here, which means that you're going to get put down." He shrugged, flopping down on his cot.
