You guys head back through the gate to the main lobby area after going through a door that had been closed with a chain. You run over to see Marvin asleep on the couch but still breathing. "Still alive..." Leon sighs.
"OK, what do we need to do next?" You pull out the map of the station as soon as Leon asks the question.
"Well, I found this valve, I think that locker room from before, we can use it in there to get through the steam which will get us to the other side so we can reach the Stars room." You point to where the locker rooms are and show him the wheel you had grabbed. You then show how you can get through to the office.
Leon nods and reloads his guns, "Alright then, let's go."
You guys go through the maze of the police station and soon get to the stairs. "I know we need to keep moving but...could we take a short rest?" You point to the darkroom under the stairs, "You can check the picture now, too." Leon nods to you. He can see the dark circles and weariness sitting on your shoulders like a cape. You've got no sleep in the past 24 hours, and it was starting to affect you.
Leon follows you into the room. "Maybe you should stay and get some sleep. You can lock the door, and when I've checked everything out up there, I'll come back and get you."
Frowning, you shake your head, "It's safer to stay together. Remember?"
Leon gently grabs your shoulder, "I know, Sera, but you're barely standing. You've had a hard night. A few hours of sleep will keep you going. Plus, it's just while I check the upstairs. I promise I'll come back as soon as I have. I'm used to the night shift."
You close your eyes, debating on his points, and if you wanna risk him going alone. "Will you promise to just run back here if anything happens?" You finally say while opening your eyes and studying his face.
"I promise. Take a nap, drink some water, and stay here, ok?" Leon smiles kindly to you, and you nod back.
"OK, be safe, please. And shoot first, listen for the groaning, and don't die pls...I can't lose another partner..." You hold back your tears as you squeeze your hands together.
Leon hugs you and nods, "I promise I'm coming back."
You nod and help him organize his packs quickly, making sure he drinks water, and then close and lock the door after he leaves.
You take off the vest and everything that's weighing you down and lay down on the makeshift bed of jackets you grabbed from the lockers and, from pure exhaustion, fall fast asleep.

~~~~~
You awake to pounding. "Sera!" You quickly hop up and unlock the door, and Leon quickly comes in and re-locks it.
You rub your eyes while yawning, "How long did I sleep?"
Leon walks over to the desk and sets some stuff down. "About two hours, Sorry, got a little distracted getting this," He holds up the last disc for the statue. "We can go see where it leads now."
Nodding, you grab your gear and put it back on while Leon goes and develops another picture. You eat some jerky from your pack and drink some water. The two hours of sleep was definitely not enough, but you feel a little more awake with a bit of sleep under your belt. With the prospect of freedom from the statue, energy courses through you.
Leon comes back from the darkroom and grabs the disc, and reloads his guns. "I also found the Licker things the guy in the letter talked about... we're gonna have to walk quietly around unless necessary." He grimaces. "They're ugly."
You sigh, "Damn, I go to sleep and miss out on all the fun."
Leon chuckles and unlocks the door before checking to make sure it's clear, "Don't worry, I'm sure we'll find some more fun soon enough." You follow Leon quietly out the door. Heading back to the main area, you place the disc in. The statue opens up fully to a gate with a door in it.
"So it goes Underground, huh. This is our way out!" Leon turns around as you stare down into the stairs. "Lieutenant Branagh. Marvin!"
You turn around as well, "Leon..." You rush back out to the top of the hole down, Leon already waking Marvin. Marvin shoots up with a grumbling, and you ready your knife.
"Hey, Marvin, you need a hospital now." You walk back over and let some tears fall.
"No, no, save yourselves. Save her." He groans and turns away.
Leon persists, "Look, we can still make it out of here. All of us -"
Marvin pulls out his gun and turns on Leon. He quickly steps back.
"Marvin..." You whisper.
"It's too late." Marvin has a shaking in his throat, his hands joining as well. "I've tried Leon, but I couldn't stop it... We can't let this thing spread. So it's on you guys now. Just go..." He starts softly crying.
The tears on your face keep flowing as you cry into your hands quietly behind Leon. Leon's optimism had made you believe for a moment Marvin could've been saved, but Leon hadn't seen what happened to the bitten. He hadn't experienced that... but you and Marvin had... he was a gonner... he'd become a zombie...
"I understand." Leon finally says and nods his head. He walks back towards you and over to the statue. "I'll wait for you to say goodbye..."
You look up from your hands and nod before going and hugging Marvin. He gives you as tight a hug he can before pushing you gently away. "Take care of each other..."
"Goodbye Marvin, thanks for keeping me alive this long." You wipe the tears before giving him the brightest smile you can and then rush back to Leon. You both enter the statue, and as you do, a mechanism in the 2nd step closes the statue behind you, closing you both in darkness.
"I won't let you down, Marvin..." Leon whispers into the dark, and you find his hand and squeeze it.
"We won't."
