The Cable Car

You follow after Ada and Leon, both moving slow because of their injuries. "The cable car will take us down to NEST." Ada says as she slowly starts up the stairs. You stay behind her as Leon goes first. "This wristbands our ticket to ride." She shows the wristband on her wrist.
You nod, "Where'd you get it?" Leon stops at the top of the stairs to wait.
"Borrowed it. Anyway, we're almost there." She follows Leon as you guys go back into the one room with the chess pieces.
"Hey, maybe while we are here, we should watch these tapes. I found them on some umbrella dudes when we were going through the tunnels." You grab them out and point out the cassette tape player and TV in the room.
Ada nods, "I could use a small rest... and they might be useful info." Leon helps her sit in the chair, and you put them in. You start with the first one you found and then the next. They both show different scenes of infiltrating this NEST and William Berkin. It also shows his first transformation. When they're over, you both look over at each other, and Ada stands.
"Not knew info but not bad either. Let's get moving now." You and Leon nod to each other. Following after the shambling Ada, you both head through the door out to the cable car. Ada stops to grasp her leg.
"Ugh this damn leg..."
"Let me carry you." Leon says stopping next to her.
"No, that will only make me feel worse." She stands back up and keeps walking.
"No offense, but Leon, you're in no condition to carry anyone with your shoulder." You walk beside Leon.
"True, how is your shoulder?" She asks.
"Worse than it looks..." He keeps walking.
"Such a pair, got one foot in the grave." Ada says snarkily.
You roll your eyes, "So optimistic you two..." You rub your arm before following them to the cable car.
"You're right Sera, we're still alive. We'll get out and be just fine!" Leon tries to lighten the mood.
"Let's just get the virus and fucking leave please..." You head into the cable car first. Ada only had to get close for the door to recognize the band on her wrist and open.
"This might be a one way ride, so be prepared..." Ada says as she sits and leans against the wall. You go to the back and sit down on the floor. Leon pulls the lever and the cable car starts up.
Leon comes over to you, "Hey, how are you holding up?" He kneels so he's not standing over you.
"I'm fine Leon, just fine. I'd like to leave this god forsaken town... it feels like every minute here is just asking for death..." You study his eyes, "I'm not much help to you and Ada, and with you hurt I feel like I should be stepping up and doing more. But I'm not the Hero Leon... but I want you to know I still have your back."
He squeezes your hands with a smile. "That's all I ask. Let me be the hero, it makes us guys feel cool." He winks and you chuckle. Standing he walks over to Ada, they're speaking quietly to each other and you honestly can't find a reason to care.
They're both badass police officers. You're just the random civilian following along. You hear them saying something about trust, and you watch them from the corner of your eyes. You gasp into your arm as she kisses Leon. Bitch... you hold in your tears and take a deep breath. She hands him the wristband as the cable car stops and the automated voice says you've arrived.
Leon stands by the door, "Ok..." You slowly stand and walk over.
"Try not to die..." You say to Ada.
"Leon, I'm counting on you..." she completely ignores you. Leon nods to her with a dopey smile. You flip her off as you walk after Leon out the door.
"Let's see if we can find Claire." You walk in front of Leon and grab a few things before walking down the hall.
Leon catches up to you and walks beside you, "Hey, um..." He sounds really awkward.
"I don't care who you kiss Leon, let's just get out of here ok? We're friends right?" You give him a smile as the doors start opening slowly. The automated voice tells you to wait til they're open.
"Yeah, yeah..." He looks slightly like a kicked puppy still. You ruffle his hair and walk through the doors, ducking under the one that got stuck.
"Come on let's finish this." Leon rushes after you.
"Wait let me go first in case there's zombies." You look back at him.
"No zombies in the main lobby." You look around the lobby, you see a closed door to the right, a desk for reception and another door that's propped open. Leon goes and looks at some computers and you enter the propped open room. Sherry lays on the bed inside passed out.
"Sherry! Oh thank god!" You rush over to the small girl who's laying there wearing Claire's jacket. One of her eyes has red bulging veins running across her face. You see that she's hooked to an IV, and her vitals are stable.
Leon comes in and smiles, "Thank God!" He looks around the room. "There should be an extra wristband upgrade to get us through the main doors. In the nap room."
You nod, "Let's go!" You both head through the other door and towards the cafeteria. You see that all the zombies are already dead.
"Claire's been here. What if she took that wristband?" Leon looks around and grabs one of the zombies wrists and takes the wristband.
"Well, there was another for us, and we didn't have to get in the nap room." He takes your wrist and puts it on you.
You look up at him, "You just really put a dead person's wristband on me..." You shiver.
Leon laughs and squeezes your hand, "Yeah, didn't wanna put it on myself." You wack his good arm.
"Come on, asshole, let's get moving." You guys check out the nap room anyway to see if there's anything in there. You find some bullets and a note. Leon finds a regulator for your flamethrower in the lockers.
"Forgot I had this tbh... Claire's doing all the work for us I haven't used it." You put it back on your back.
Leon nods, "She deserves the medal here as hero." You guys head to the main shaft area.
"So true, we're barely having to do anything." You guys head to the only area you can.
"Maybe there's another upgrade this way." Leon nods as he goes first. You guys reach another reception area. There's a note from Claire. "Hey, she says, 'Hey if you're seeing this, the monsters can only be killed with fire. There is another wristband on a guy down on the walkway, but I couldn't kill the plant things...Good luck with the flame thrower. Hopefully you're here and seeing this...' well guess that regulator was good to get..."
Leon smiles, "Seriously? She's doing all the heavy lifting." He chuckles and holds out his hand. "Wanna flame thrower or let me?" You look down below through the window at the body down below. You see all the plant monsters.
"I'll try." You give him a smile. He nods.
"I've got your back then."
You both head into the greenhouse and you use the flamethrower preserving some of the fuel for each of the dudes. You notice that there's an open hatch. You burn all the bad guys and Leon goes and grabs the wristband off the dude, he takes the chip out and just replaces the other one on his. You look up and so does Leon as pounding steps and breaking glass sound above you.
"Mr. X! He's supposed to be dead?!" You start running after Leon.
"Guess not! Come on!" He cuts off the way back to the door so you both head down into the opened hatch. You're glad you killed the plant zombies. You guys go through some corridors grabbing some ammo and things. You see some dead lickers, you praise Claire's name. Heading up some stairs you reach a storage area and then go through a door back into the lobby area.
"You think he's still following us?" You're a little out of breath and Leon takes a deep breath.
"Hopefully not..."
"Well let's head to the next area quickly before he finds us..." Leon nods.
"Good point come on." You follow after him back to the main shaft.
