MAE COULDN'T attend the rowing competition since she was stretching her competition that was taking place right after.

Mae smiled when she saw Elisa in the stands waving a huge sign that read 'GO MAE'. Auyb, Rosh and Simon joined her soon after. When the first people began to file out of the gymnasium to sit in the bleachers, Britt let out a worried sigh.

"What's the matter ?" Mae asked her.

"Look at the faces they're making. The rowers lost. Which means we have to win, otherwise Hillerska will look stupid."

       "Oh."

Mae knew they had to kill it. Niels being the captain of the rowers, if they lost too he would be able to put all the blame on them.

She saw Henry sitting at the top of the stands with Valter, Felice and Sara. He waved at her to which she responded with a smile. She couldn't stop smiling whenever Henry was around. It was quite surprising.

The first whistle sounded and the people in the stands applauded. "Welcome to the Hillerska-Sprucewood track and field meet!" the voice in the speakers exclaimed. "Start of the long distance in two minutes! All the runners are called to the starting line."

Mae was running the 100 meters. Britt took place for the first race and won. Then there were the relay race and they lost that one. They were three of them running for this race and one of them fell during the second lap. It happens but it penalized them.

The voice then called the runners for the 100 meters and her teammates gave Mae some encouragement. The crowd cheered as she and the girl from the opposite team were taking place behind the starting line.

"Let's go, Mae, you're the best!" Elisa yelled.

"Sprucewood's runner is their winner Coral Moore! This is Mae Ström's first race as a student from Hillerska. Let's hope she will be up to it." the voice in the speakers introduced them.

"In position!" suddenly shouted the referee.

Mae shook her arms to stretch them one last time before bending down and placing her feet in the starting blocks. The referee raised his arm.

       "Ready?" he asked.

The girls raised their heads. After a pause, the referee abruptly lowered his arm, blowing his whistle. "Go!"

Mae's feet took off as she rushed forward. The crowd was screaming and cheering and the blood was pounding in her temples, much more from stress than effort. Her feet pounded the ground tirelessly and her only goal was to succeed in winning this race so she could prove to everyone she was at her place in Hillerska.

"It's tight!" exclaimed the commentator. "They are literally neck and neck! Wait, nope! Störm is surpassing Moore! Only a few meters left!"

The brunette was aware that the girl from the opposing school was right behind her. There were only a few steps left. She accelerated again and the whistle announcing the end of the race soon sounded and everyone from Hillerska started cheering loudly.

"Victory for Mae Ström! Ten seconds fourteen!"

The girl slowed down and bent down to catch her breath when the other members of her team threw themselves on her. The brunette laughed, as the pressure was suddenly easing. She left her teammates and walked to the named Coral.

Mae held out her hand to the girl. "Congratulations."

"Thank you. Congratulations to you, you've been pretty amazing." Coral shook her hand and Mae smiled.

"Despite a close score, Hillerska wins the track and field meet!" the commentator exclaimed and the students stood up to cheer loudly.

The coach sent the girls back to the locker room and after a short congratulatory speech, she let them change. Mae pulled on her jeans and a loose t-shirt before letting her hair down. She grabbed her bag and after a general greeting to her teammates, she left the locker room. The stands had emptied, so there weren't many people left, but her friends were waiting in front with Henry, Valter, Felice and Sarah.

As soon as she exited the room, Elisa ran to her and Mae barely had time to open her arms for her best friend to throw herself into them. They both started jumping around in excitement as they were hugging each other.

"I missed you so fucking much." Elisa exclaimed when they pulled away. "And hello?? You were so awesome."

"You really were." Rosh nodded as Elisa was moving so Rosh, Ayub and Simon could hug her.

"Thank you! Thanks for coming, I'm so happy you're here." Mae pulled back with a big smile.

"Sorry to interrupt." Felice apologized. "But you were so good? I mean, we knew you are a good runner but you were almost flying up there!"

"Oh, thank you." the girl chuckled when Felice went to hug her. "Sorry you lost the rowing competition." she then turned to Valter and Simon who were both part of the team.

"We'll get over it. It's Niels who makes a big deal out of it." Valter shrugged.

      "That's surprising." Mae joked.

Sara hugged her too to congratulate her before leaving with Felice and Henry smiled at Mae. "You've been really great." he said.

"Thank you." she smiled, trying to ignore her legs which were suddenly trembling.

"We'll see you at the party." the ginger declared before Valter and him walked away.

Mae gave a questioning look to her friends and Elisa shrugged. "I invited all of them to the party at my place tonight. And seems like it was a good idea because who is that?" she asked with a knowing smile.

"Henry." Mae replied, ignoring her friends' gaze.

"And don't you have something you wanna tell us?" Elisa insisted.

      "No?"

"Our girl got a crush." Rosh laughed.

"I do not!" Mae exclaimed. "He's just nice, that's all."

"It's quite obvious he has crush on you." Simon said.

      "No, he doesn't."

"She's just a little oblivious." Ayub joked.

"Can we skip the commentary?" Mae asked with a roll of eyes.
