Another angst, I know 😭 but they all have good endings, I promise! Plus, I love the ones when Alex works late and John tells him to come to bed 🤪

|Again, Alex is working late, but this time with no attitude. John tries to help him and tell him to stay healthy and sleep...|

Alex sat in his office, writing as always. The only sound you could hear was the scratching of the quill on the parchment paper. The candle lit next to Alex illuminated the room dimly as he wrote. It was a calm environment as he was surrounded by books on wooden shelves with two windows on the wall, revealing the night sky.

It was around two in the morning as Alex felt himself falling asleep, but he refused to sleep now. He had so much work to do and he was almost done.

John, his husband who he eloped, walked into his office, yawning. Alex had convinced a priest to marry them illegally and they haven't been caught. It was a very scary day, but also the best day of his life. He looked up at John and smiled.

John came up behind Alex and wrapped his arms around his neck, resting his arms on Alex's shoulders. He leaned on Alex, which Alex didn't mind, and said, "Come to bed." Alex looked back down at his work.

"I can't," Alex replied with a yawn, "I need to finish this," John stopped leaning on Alex and placed his hands directly onto Alex's shoulders.

"Alex, you're exhausted," John warned, "This isn't good for you."

"I know," Alex groaned tiredly, "Just five more minutes, please?"

"Alex," John trailed, not really convinced.

"I promise," Alex looked up at John, "Just let me finish this."

John sighs and drops his hands from Alex's shoulders. He gives in to Alex's pleads and walks towards the door. Before he leaves, he calls back, "If you're not upstairs in the next five minutes, we're gonna have a problem."

"Don't worry," Alex replies with a tired smile, "I'll be there soon," John smiles and blows Alex a kiss before leaving the room and closing the door behind him.

Alex stares at the door for a second, blanking out due to his tiredness. He places the quill down and rubs his eyes, slapping his face a few times to wake himself up. Then, he looks down at his paper and begins to write again.

20 minutes later

Alex still wasn't in bed. John had been reading while waiting for him. Each time the clock hit another five minutes, he would tell himself Alex would be there any minute. But soon, he closed the book and placed it on the side table, sighing. He walked back down to Alex's office and opened the door, crossing his arms and leaning on the door frame.

He watched as Alex continued writing before he snapped Alex's name, making him look up. After a few seconds, Alex looked back at his paper and said, "I'm almost done, just a minute."

John shook his head and uncrossed his arms, "No," he began, "You were supposed to be in bed fifteen minutes ago," Alex looked up again, his face clearly showing exhaustion.

"I know," he groaned, "But I need to finish this," John frowned and shrugged.

"So, finish it when you wake up," he suggested, earning a loud and annoyed sigh from Alex.

"I can't sleep without finishing it first."

"Then I guess you'll learn how to," John replied, placing his hands on his hips, "Come on."

Alex shook his head and stayed put in his chair, being stubborn as usual and not willing to budge. "Just a few more minutes," he pleaded, "I'll go to sleep as soon as I finish, I promise."
