Chapter-12 A reality check

Present

Ahaana stopped narrating as Avi 's voice landed in her ears accompanied by Bhavna's seet sound of laughter.

She accompanied by Mahir followed the source of sound only to find the annoyed kid pouting angrily while the girl with long and thick hairs kept laughing.

"What happened?" Asked Ahaana seeing the scenario.

"She is cheating in Ludo , mumma..!" Avi whined complainingly.

Bhavna made a fake shocked look on her face as her mouth hung open "Haw! Such are liar you are , Avi!" She spoke up.

"Look at my innocent face guys , do you really think that I will cheat?" Making up a baby like face she questioned.

"Yes!" The trio answered in union while Bhavna pretended to wipe her invisible tears.

She sat down on the bed singing "Dost dost na rahe..."

"Dramebaaz!" Ahaana remarked while Mahir nodded his head in agreement.

Vihaan tapped his foot on the ground checking his watch for the fourth time as his impatient eyes glued to the main door of his office.

Much to his relief he saw the person he was waiting for opening the door as the old lady came and sat down on a chair opposite to him.

"It's nice to see you after so long , Vihaan beta.." Vedika Srivastava stated putting up a small smile.

Vihaan simply nodded his head at her "Well , I called you here to talk about someone.." he spoke calmly.

Vedika's eyebrows knitted together as she stated at him questioningly "About whom?"
The grey eyed man sucked in a breath as the name rolled out of his lips "Your daughter , Ahaana.."

The old lady froze for a minute her face turning blank "I don't want to!" She confessed with an emotionless look.
Vihaan sighed under his breath simply shaking his head at her words "You don't have an option , Mrs.Srivastava.." he stated with a small smile.

"Fine! If you want then let me tell you I and her father abandoned her long back" Vedika said in a go trying to avoid the eye contact with him.

"Wh..at? Wh..y?" Vihaan fumbled feeling shocked at the sudden bombarding of reality at him.

"You ask why? She was carrying an illegitimate child in her womb! And when we asked to abort it , she denied! We have a reputation in society and her one act ruined everything.." bursting out in tears of anger and frustration Vedika explained running a hand through her hair as she left the office without saying anything further.

Vihaan sat on his chair , it was too much of shock for him. He didn't knew she was suffering so much , he didn't knew she was abandoned by her own people.

Guilt washed over him as he felt someone kept a stone over his heart. It ached. For her. For her pain. For her sorrow and all the struggles she was facing.

Was it all because of that one incident?

That her life took a 360 degree turn?
