David sat across from Kevin Perez, his soon to be ex husband.
They were married for a few years but they didn't have a perfect marriage. Kevin was controlling, toxic, manipulative, and abusive to David throughout the marriage. David thought that after giving birth to their son, Dakota Kevin would change but Kevin was the same.
"Everything's going to be spilt right down the middle. Which means that David, you'll get $6.4 million and Kevin you'll also get the same amount," David's lawyer said
Kevin scoffed but then whispered something to his lawyer. The facial expression on his face had changed from normal to confused.
"My client will like to give Mr Reyes the house that two shared in exchange for visitation rights every weekend of Dakota," Kevin's lawyer said
"That's fine," David said
"Ok, I'll just add that to the list," David's lawyer said
"So if there isn't anything else I think that we can finalize the divorce papers and custody papers," David's lawyer said
A hint of nervousness went through David's body as he signed his name on the document. He thought this day would never come but it did. Kevin signed the document but he never took his eyes off of David's left hand. The one where he still wears his wedding ring. Kevin also wears his.
David hid his ring as he could tell Kevin was watching him.
"Well then we're done here," Kevin's lawyer said
20 minutes later
David was standing against his car texting his best friend, Darrian until he saw Kevin approaching him.
"What do you want?" David asked
"We could've worked things out than just getting a divorce," Kevin said
"I tried Kevin but you would just go back to your old ways. Look I don't wanna deal with this right now," David said
"I was stressed okay. I had a lot of shit going on with work-"
"Don't use work as an excuse to put your hands on me or to degrade me," David said
It got silent between them. David was starting to get more-so anxious around Kevin. Even though they are divorced now, he still felt uneasy around him.
"I gotta go pick up Dakota," David said getting in his car
"I love you D," Kevin said
"I love you too," David said out of habit
Two months later
It's been two months since the divorce. Kevin and his law firm were doing better than expected. David was doing better mentally and emotionally. The two were doing the coparenting thing together pretty well.
So you can just say things were good for both of them.
Darrian was over David's house along with his husband, Tyler.
