1:30 hit, meaning class was over for David. He packed his backpack and headed outside. The campus was alive with students. Morehouse, an all male HBCU. Many of these young black men were here to create change in the world.
As he walked through the courtyard, a few friends dapped him up but then he saw the one guy that always had him curious.
Jake Taylor.
Jake was the guy who never followed the rules. He did his own thing and never cared. Many of these boys on campus wanted to have his way of living. His no-fucks-to-give attitude. David wouldn't admit this out loud but he had a crush on Jake.
It's an all boy school, of course some gay shit is gonna happen.
He was everything that David wasn't.
"Hey Reyes," Jake said
"Uh hey. You done with classes?" David asked feeling a bit nervous
"I skipped my last two classes. So yeah I'm done. I'm finna go meet with some friends right now. You wanna come?" Jake asked
"Really?" David asked
"Yeah," Jake said
"Um sure," David said
The two boys headed off towards Jake's car. It was a Dodge Challenger. Something that totally fit Jake. David slid in the passenger seat and let the nerves go out.
Jake drove smoothly and effortlessly. The radio played and things felt comfortable until Jake asked a question.
"Are you gay?" Jake asked
The question caught David off guard.
"Yea," he said quietly
"You ever been with a guy before?" Jake asked calmly
"No. Why?" David asked curiously
"Just wondering. Do you wanna try?" Jake asked
"Try what?" David asked
Jake stopped his car outside of a restaurant. He leaned over to David and looked him directly in the eyes, his voice low and serious.
"Try being with me," he said
There was no trace of a smirk on his face, just a hint of something deeper that David couldn't quite read.
David's heart skipped a beat. He hadn't expected this. Not from Jake, the guy who seemed untouchable, who never seemed to care about anything or anyone. But now, here he was, practically inviting David into his world—whatever that meant.
"Uh I didn't know you were into guys," David said looking around
"I like what I like. And I like you. I been seeing the way you look at me. Like I'm the most gorgeous person on Earth," Jake said with his cockiness
