"A field trip?" Capricorn says, his eyes scanning the paper before looking back at me.

Aquarius, Capricorn, Virgo, Leo, and I were in the kitchen after our training session, the mood relaxed as we enjoyed this moment of free time before dinner.

"Yeah?" I responded, my voice carrying a sultry lilt, inviting him to delve deeper.

Capricorn pauses, his eyes holding mine for a moment before he continues. "I'm not sure if it's a good idea for all of the water signs to be away. We might need you guys here." His words are measured, with a hint of caution underlying them.

I nod slowly, understanding his concern. "Fine, then Pisces can stay, and I'll just go with Scorpio," I suggest, trying to find a compromise that might work.

During my water elemental class with Pisces and Scorpio, we were informed about an upcoming field trip to the lake. Upon hearing this news, my attention was immediately caught, as I thought it might be the perfect opportunity to finally connect with Scorpio without the usual interference of group dynamics getting in the way.

This could be the breakthrough I've been looking for.

Aquarius shifted uncomfortably, her gaze flickering between Cap and me. "Is Pisces even okay with that?"

I turn to her, my brow furrowing slightly. "I think I would know since I'm the one who's actually her friend here," I reply, the words coming out a bit sharper than I intended.

Aquarius falls silent and Capricorn clears his throat, redirecting the conversation. "Actually, it'd be more ideal if you and Pisces went, and Scorpio stayed here." His gaze meets mine, and I can't help but feel a pang of disappointment at his words.

"What?" I let out a soft whine, my lips forming a slight pout.

"He's our strongest water sign," Capricorn explains, his voice calm and measured. "We can't take any risks, and we can't be certain the shadows won't show up."

I sigh, knowing deep down that he has a point. "But nothing's going to happen," I say, almost pleadingly. "Nothing ever does."

Capricorn gives a slight shrug, his expression apologetic. "We can't be too careful," he says, his tone final.

"So Virgo gets to go to book club when she's supposed to be training but I can't go to this field trip?" I blurt out, unable to contain my frustration.

Virgo suddenly shifts her attention to our conversation, her eyes widening slightly at the mention of her name.

"I said you could go, just not Scorpio," Capricorn says, his voice remaining calm. "And besides Virgo does great in training, and she has Taurus or me to back her up when she's gone."

"Just as I thought, you do pick favorites," I accuse, my eyes narrowing.

"This again?" Leo groans, rolling his eyes. "Vir can't help that she's the cutest zodiac in the universe," he says, a teasing grin spreading across his face.

Virgo giggles, attempting to plant a kiss on Leo's cheek, but he turns quickly to kiss her lips instead. I roll my eyes, feeling slightly annoyed at their open display of affection.

"The favorites are based on looks, then?" I say bitterly.

"Stop with that kind of talk," Capricorn says, his voice firm. "The answer is no, Cancer."

I groan, standing up from the table and walking off, my mood soured by the disappointment of not being able to spend alone time with Scorpio. I make my way to the water hall, swinging the door open to Scorpio's room. I find him lying on his bed, his leg dangling over the side as he scrolls through his phone.
