I let out a lighthearted laugh as I quickly closed the door to my room, narrowly avoiding Capricorn's wayward shoe before it could hit me. With a confident stride, I make my way down the hall, my pace quickened by the eagerness to meet up with Cancer in her room.
I find her lying on her bed, phone in hand as she types away, seemingly engrossed in whatever conversation she's having. Stepping inside, I shut the door behind me, the solid click of the lock echoing in the silence. "What'd you tell her?" I ask, my voice tinged with a subtle, playful curiosity.
"That I didn't feel welcome," she mutters, her lips barely moving as the words tumble from them. Her eyes remain steadfastly fixed on the screen, her fingers dancing across the keyboard.
"Good one," I chuckle, as I move closer to take a seat on the edge of her bed. The mattress dips beneath my weight, the subtle shift causing Cancer's body to sway ever-so-slightly.
As I settle in, my brows furrow together in a mix of curiosity and disapproval as I glance over her appearance. She hasn't even made the effort to get ready or make herself look presentable for our impending date.
"What have you been doing this whole time?" I ask, my voice tinged with a hint of exasperation as I eye her suspiciously.
"Laying here," she mumbles, her tone filled with disinterest as she remains fixated on her phone, her full attention seemingly diverted from the conversation at hand.
I chuckle lightly, running a hand through my perfectly coiffed hair in a gesture of mild exasperation. "I'm starting to think you don't want to go on this date," I muse, my voice laced with a subtle tease.
Finally, Cancer tears her gaze away from the screen, her brows furrowing in genuine confusion, "I didn't," she states plainly, before promptly returning her attention to the device in her hands.
I grumble impatiently, the sound rumbling low in my throat as I fix Cancer with a pointed look, urging her to get up and start getting dressed. But she remains stubbornly rooted in her spot on the bed as her fingers resume their rapid dance.
Deciding to take matters into my own hands, I swiftly reach out and snatch the phone from her grasp, the motion fluid and decisive. With a flick of my wrist, I toss the object aside, sending it careening across the bed to land amongst the rumpled sheets.
"Get off that," I command, my voice low and authoritative, "I want your focus only on me tonight."
Cancer looks over at me, "Pick up my phone," she says, her tone deceptively sweet, before her face suddenly darkens, a threatening gleam entering her. "Before I slap you," she grits out through clenched teeth, finally sitting up on the bed.
"Violence isn't cool," I smile, my tone laced with a playful tease that belies the underlying tension simmering between us.
"Neither are you, asshole," she snaps, her lips twisting into a scowl as she glares at me with undisguised disdain.
As our faces draw mere inches apart, I tilt my head, letting out a wicked grin. "You are so hot when you get angry," I murmur, my voice dropping to a low, seductive tone that caresses the air.
"Oh my-," Cancer cuts herself off as she quickly brings her hands up to cover her ears, shutting her eyes tightly as if to block out my words. "Make it stop," she whispers to the stars, desperation creeping into her voice.
I can't help but laugh at her reaction, the sound rich and amused as I relent, reaching out to retrieve her phone from where it had landed. As I pick it up, I glance at the screen, my eyes narrowing as I take in the message from Neptune.
Okay, that's weird.
I should take this as a warning sign...but it's me we're talking about here.
