As Sunghoon walks into his silent, empty apartment after a long day of work, a sense of emptiness settles in his chest. The solitude feels heavy, a daily reminder of the isolation he faces. He gazes around the quiet space, unable to shake off the hollowness that fills his heart.
Sunghoon's heart aches deeply for the comfort of his family, especially his beloved mother. He lives alone in Seoul to pursue his studies, far from his hometown of Daegu, which holds a special place in his heart. In his eyes, Daegu is the most beautiful place on earth, filled with fond memories and moments of joy. Although he has grown to appreciate Seoul, it cannot compare to the warmth and familiarity of Daegu. Since his childhood, Sunghoon has been an introvert, and his mother has been his closest confidante and source of happiness.
Sunghoon never could have imagined leaving behind the comfort and familiarity of Daegu to live alone in Seoul. The thought of being so far away from his loved ones was terrifying, especially as an introverted kid. But now, four years have passed, and he's gradually become accustomed to this new lifestyle. Despite still being inherently introverted, he's developed a knack for hiding it behind a facade of sociability. He's learned how to adapt and pretend to be more outgoing, realizing that's what it takes to survive.
Sunghoon's train of thought was abruptly halted by the ringing of his phone. Without even checking the caller ID, he picked up the call and held it against his ear. A warm and familiar voice, brimming with affection.
Sunghoon was deep in his thought when it got interupted by a phone call. Without looking at the caller id he receives it and puts it against his ear.???: "Hoonie~?"
Sunghoon's lips unconsciously curled into a smile as the familiar voice on the other end of the line immediately registered in his mind. His voice catches in his throat as he begins to say
Sunghoon: "Ma-"
before pausing, overwhelmed by a bittersweet mix of comfort and longing. In that moment, he signs, expressing the conflicting emotions swirling within him.
Unknowingly his mouth curves into a smile as he recognized the voiceMom: "How's my little Hoonie doing?" she asks, the warmth and concern in her voice palpable.
Sunghoon's throat tightens as he responds "Well-" before being cut off by his mother's familiar barrage of questions and advice. She worries about his meals, his sleep, and his phone usage, just as she has always done.
Sunghoon listens intently, appreciating her motherly care even while being a bit amused by her fussing.
As Sunghoon listened to his mother's familiar rant, a bittersweet feeling settled over him. He cherished the opportunity to hear her voice after a long day, but his heart felt heavy with a longing for his family to be by his side. In the midst of her chatter, he couldn't help but interject with a single word, his longing evident in his tone.
Sunghoon: "Mom.."
His mother halted her rant, her attention immediately shifting to her son.
Mom: "Yes baby??" she asked, concern evident in her voice. "Did you do everything I asked you to do?"
Sunghoon sighed softly, a mix of affection and exasperation in his gesture.
Mom: "Okay, you don't have to say," she responded, her understanding nature shining through. "Tell me, how was school today?" she inquired, her enthusiasm evident.
