Lola walked between her twin and mother. Lola smiled at all of the fall decorations. It wasn't a secret that fall was the youngest favorite season, although spring was a close second for her. "One of us has to do laundry tonight." Lorelai said as they walked towards Luke's. "Why?" The twins asked at the same time as Lola adjusted her backpack strap on her shoulder.
"Because I haven't had any clean underwear for three days." Lorelai told her daughters making Lola's eyes widen. "So right now under your skirt you're wearing...?" Rory trailed off making her twin glance at their mother. "Not underwear." The twins mother said making both girls eyes widen.
"Mom!" The twins exclaimed in disgust after glancing at each other. "It's kinda nice, actually -- breezy." Lorelai teased her daughters making the twins roll their eyes. "Our role model, ladies and gentlemen." Rory said her hands inside her blazer pockets from the chill. "How come you two haven't run out yet?" Lorelai asked causing Lola to send her an 'I told you so' look.
"I don't know. I guess we have more underwear than you." Rory said with a shrug, Lola quietly sighed, silently wishing her mother didn't catch it. "That's not true. You have less. Have one of you been doing laundry without me?" Their mother questioned, Lola shot her twin yet another look.
"No." The twins stated at the same time, altough Lola's sounded a lot more convincing. "Rory." Lorelai said with a scolding tone. "OK, one load." Rory defended herself and her twin. "And you didn't even ask if I had stuff to throw in?" The mother of two asked in disbelief, Lola shrugged as if this conversation has happened multiple times before. "I tried." The shortest offered, looking up at her mother. Lorelai pulled her youngest into a side hug, placing a kiss to the top of her head.
"That's my baby." Lorelai cooed making Lola beam happily. "It was a big load. There wasn't any room." Rory stated, Lola decided to stop helping either of them and just listened to the conversation.
"I'm crushed. I'm bleeding. Get me a tourniquet. Oh, no, they're dirty 'cause Rory wouldn't wash them with her stuff." Lola laughed at her mothers dramatics, shaking her head. "I'm sorry. I'll do another load tonight, I promise." Rory conceded to their mother with a sigh. "Never mind. I'll do my own laundry." Lorelai pouted like a child who had her favorite toy taken away.
"Fine. Even better." The oldest twin commented, Lola laughed, linking arms with Rory who was between her and her mother as they began crossing the street. "I hate doing laundry. Maybe I'll just buy new underwear." Lorelai decided linking arms with her daughters as they passed by Miss. Patty's. The students were in the middle of dress rehearsal for the Thanksgiving dance.
"And flutter, flutter, flutter, flutter, flutter...and leaves. Where are my leaves? I got pumpkins, I got Pilgrims, I got no leaves." Lola smiles at the dance teacher before the trio finally walked into Luke's for breakfast.
"Every other store in town has fall decorations." Taylor stated as he followed Luke around the restaurant. "Taylor's getting an early start." Lola stated following after her twin sister who laughed softly. "Hoorah for the mob mentality." Luke shot back blandly, Lola snickered shaking her head.
"We're talking a few streamers and a paper turkey. How's it gonna hurt to have a paper turkey?" Taylor continued on as if the man hadn't spoken at all. "No turkey, no squash, no pumpkins. Nothing colored orange." Luke protested firmly picking up some plates off of an empty table, he was not putting decorations up, he never as and never will. "OK, you don't like orange. That's fine. Autumn has many varied hues to toy with." The market owner attempted, almost following Luke behind the counter but stopping when the diner owner pins him with a dark look.
"Excuse me, can we get some coffee please?" The oldest Lorelai of the three asked as they sat at the counter. "And muffins?" Rory continued on where her mother left off. "Warm please." Lola finished watching the ongoing show in front of her.
