A car stopped at the driveway and I froze

A car stopped at the driveway and I froze. Memories of when a car once stopped in front of the building I stood waiting for Helen, gushed in. That's where the problem began, and this one sounded nothing different.

Every part of my body was freezing. I had started having a running nose. With no idea how long I sat on the ground waiting for the morning to come.

The car opened, and I held my breath when some rushed footsteps approached my way. Moments like this were when I wished I could see.

“Ivy!” A feminine voice called and immediately, her hands met mine, I gasped. I tried to pull myself from her but by inhaling her scent, I knew who it was.

“Elizabeth?”

“Let's go.” She gripped my hand lifted me up, walking me off. I could have told her to slow down because I never used to take quick steps, not aware of where I was stepping, but who cared? She got me into the car and shut the door. After getting in the car she started the engine and immediately drove off.

I could tell she was in a rush with the speed. My mouth remained sealed, not sure what was happening. I got kicked out, and I heard Ronan yell at Elizabeth earlier, that was my fault. Nothing could have happened if I had never forced to leave the room. Then again, I was free, and he released me. But who knew where Elizabeth was taking me?

The silence in the car felt strong and it bothered me. We seemed to be in deep thought, but I wished to know where he was taking me.

“If anything happens to you from now on, it will be your mess to deal with.” Elizabeth finally spoke, breaking the awkwardness.

“You are talking to me?” I asked and she scoffed.

“No, I was talking to the car.” She said and I laughed lightly. “You can laugh?”

“Sorry.”

She exhaled heavily. “I'll drop you off outside Olivia’s house. You will find your way inside. You don't know me, and we have never met. I hope you remember that.”

“Why? Also, how do you know Olivia?”

“We know everything.” She said while stopping the car. “You should forget everything that happened that week.”

“What if the police ask? What will I say?”

“There won't be any police to ask you anything.” She started the car again. “Start a new life, if possible, move to another town.”

How possible was that? My sister went to work so we could move. I always knew it would be hard because every coin that Helen earned before, Uncle Peter demanded it. Helen gave them because she knew it wasn't enough to move us. But now she was away to make enough, maybe she would make a good amount that would move us.

I wondered what Uncle Peter was to do. He never let us explain ourselves. Though maybe he didn't get information that I was kidnapped and thought I ran away with Helen.
