I hoped Ronan wasn't seeing the whole act through my eyes

I hoped Ronan wasn't seeing the whole act through my eyes. Or even the ways I would find salvation from the glass I was holding. At some point, I thought it was a bad idea, then again, I would see how he was into it. He had an interest in doing it.

They said, keep your enemies closer, and I prayed whatever decision he made would work out to my plan. If he was to refuse it, the other plan was to move to another state.

The silence did not seem to help. I could easily tell he had his eyes on me, maybe trying to read through the pages I wasn't opening for him. But he had to be assured that he shall never read those pages. Because I was seated with a person who hurt me, who put me through hell, and I smiled, faking everything just for my plan to work out.

For Helen, I was ready to do anything. Her safety lay in my hands, and she had to get it from me because we had no parents to do this for us.

“Is the silence a no?” I asked. He could just go ahead and disagree so I could step out of his life and take another action. In fact, if I couldn't have been blind, I couldn't have taken this stupid action of approaching a criminal. It was like getting my hands dirty knowing it would ruin my image in the future. But once he got Jack out of the picture, I was to be helpful to the police to bring them a mafia man.

“I am thinking of the right amount to ask.” He said, if I wasn't wrong, he sounded different, not stern and cold, but calm and normal. It amazed me, or maybe because he wanted to play along with me thinking I was stupid enough not to remember him. “How much would you ask if you were the officer?”

I chuckled, Every behavior I portrayed was fake. But I hoped it worked. “How hard is the job? I am clueless about that.”

“Well, I will gather enough data about someone. I might be required to follow him from time to time to know his daily activities, and…I will use my time out of my schedule and come meet you.”

My heart races. “Meet me?” I hoped he did not see the shock in me.

“Meet you, yes. How was I to be reporting to you? We will be working together. Remember we will let your sister meet him, and I am hoping she shares her personal information with you, it will help us. Also, we might be required to follow them sometimes.”

Okay, what did I get myself in? This meant that we were to see each other often. And knowing he knew Jack, and he could give information in a second, hearing him say this meant that he was also playing with me and wanting to be seeing me often. What if I put myself in danger?

“You don't seem okay with that? If that doesn't sound well, we could be communicating via the phone. Depending if your phone is private.”

No, Helen owned my phone more than I even owned it. She would easily access everything and I had no problem with that because I had nothing to hide.

“She…hm…” I think this was a bad idea. “She has access to everything.”

“Sounds like meeting is the only other option.”
