I sank into Ben’s hug once I stepped out of the car. He was the only person who knew my issue so he knew I desired the hug. And he hugged me back.
“I think I will leave you three at this.” Olivia excused herself. Helen and I thanked her as she walked back to her car.
“Someone tell me why we are in the same restaurant we were last time?” Helen complained. She was good at it and I was used to it, except the part where she would complain of me hiding something about my private meeting with Ronan. Yes, I hid it from them, and even though they nudged me, I still never uttered a word.
“It was the best meeting point I guess,” Ben said as he rubbed my shoulder with his one hand that remained resting on me. He was drawing me to him like I would evaporate.
“Let's go and eat, I'm starving.” I pressed and we all walked Inside. We occupied a table and sat like usual—Ben beside me and Helen across us.
“So, what am I missing?” Ben asked and he had no idea what he just started. Helen was into it, but good thing, Ben would know when to end the topic if I told him to.
“Hm, yes, Ben, would you help me ask my sister what she said to the officer? Imagine she kicked Olivia and Me out, imagine that! How much do you even trust him that you'd agree to be left with him?”
With the warm breath on my cheek, I could tell Ben was staring sideways at me. “Ivy?”
“Don't mind her.”
“Oh please, I will be in your blood if I have to. Until you tell me.”
I released an exhale. “Can we order?”
“I don't know you anymore,” Helen grumbled and I was sure she had a pout on her lips.
“Fine, I wanted his number.”
“What?” Helen yell-whispered.
“See, that's the reason I asked you two to leave. I know you, you could have started thinking things.”
“No wait, wait. I feel left out now. Who is this officer?”
“The guy from the party, the one we saw carrying Ivy out of the building, remember?” Helen bragged and I rolled my eyes. “I told you the guy had a thing on her. We could have bet on this, ah, money lost.”
“You told him? Were you speaking behind my back?” I asked.
“Is it not your sister who texted me about it? She said she thought you looked good together.” Ben said and I groaned.
