The news reported about Henry Cassius again. These famous rich people could take control of media, television, and radio. In NY, money spoke.

I sat on the carpet in front of Helen as she braided my hair into two cornrows. She loved doing that whenever we were going to bed.

The silence that dwelled between us meant she also followed the news. And when her hands paused their work on my hair, I paid attention to the news. A lady was reporting about Henry Cassius’ son who has been living his whole life with his mother in Australia. Henry was divorced.

“I just don't get it,” Helen said as she resumed working on my hair. “How handsome are rich people? How is he even a human being.”

A short chuckle fled through me. “Is it Henry?”

She pushed my shoulder. “No, it's Kai Cassius,  his son. God, he is like a god. Imagine we will meet him in person. Now that I am looking at him, I feel nervous.”

“Was it not you who were excited?” I teased. “These big parties freak me out.” I lamented lazily, knowing the whole ass issue here.

“The last time I checked, you wanted this. You and Olivia wanted to build your name to be known across the state so you'd be getting contracts in these big parties. You know, I did not know you'd be the reason I would meet a man.” She gave a dreamy voice that sent me back to my world of worries.

The ways she kept talking about Jack had me losing a second of my lifetime by the odd beat of my heart. This still needed to be dealt with. For our lives to be better, we did not need to go back to old life.

“I feel like asking you something, of which I kinda know the answer but I want to hear it from you.” She said and that gave my heart some weird flips. Even though I knew that she didn't know what was happening, I couldn't tell why she made me tense.

“That sounds serious.”

She chuckled, “It is. I'm your sister. I also love you, a lot. But I was wondering, would you like to date someday?”

That made me feel a bit relieved. I let out a shallow exhale then said, “Do you want to get married?”

“I did not say that.” She quickly defended herself.

“Have you thought about it?”

“Come on Ivy. Okay,” She cleared her throat. “Telling you this doesn't mean I don't think someone wouldn't date you. I always have a plan B.”

“Okay?” This was interesting.

“I want you to date and have a man who would make you happy. Maybe have a family and enjoy your life, but at the same time, I want to be there. I don't want to sleep many nights not knowing you are not in a room in the same house. If a man approaches you, I have to approve of him first. I'll do all I can to be sure he will take care of you. If he won't, and if we won't find one, then I will make sure I will marry a man who will agree to stay with you and respect you.”
