When we awoke, security procedures dictated that all Security Personnel were to perform a sweep of the surrounding area while all other personnel packed up camp. I put all of my belongings into my pack and left my tent just as one of Doc's boys came over to pack my tent up. I unholstered my 1911 and walked in the opposite direction I had seen Judy and Officer Aiden walk in to cover more area effectively.Me, Judy, and Officer Aiden arrived back at camp at the same time. None of us had anything to report. We set off from where we made camp relatively uneventfully. Is this finally going to be a normal day for me in this place? Our gas masks muted our breaths, making the buzzing seem all the more predominant. My eyes scanned every corner with calculated precision as if I had done it a million times before. I held my gun in two hands and pointed at the ground.
Knocking echoed in a nearby wall, causing everyone to jump. I turned over my shoulder and fired two shots into the wall. A long moment of silence hung in the air as we all stared at the gaping hole the bullets left behind. "This place is designed to get to you." Aiden said, walking up to me and putting his hand on my shoulder. "At ease." I holstered my weapon, breathing shakily before turning so we could continue our march. Whispers seemed to whirl around beyond the walls and ceilings, keeping me wired tight and short. This level specifically had a sort of tense air about it, like something really bad was always about to happen. My skin crawled as we continued our march with wild eyes and heavy breaths. There was a tight silence that hung in the air, and my grip remained firm around my 1911.
Suddenly, one of Doc's boys stopped. "Hold up." We all stopped and looked around, waiting to hear what the guy had to say. "Something up? What's wrong, Elijah?" Doc asked with a curious tone. The boy, who seemed no older than 19, stared into the halls with a laser focus. He then began to hum a song. The tune was soft and familiar, but it set Judy off. "Oh Fuck!" Aiden and Doc pulled back too, and Aiden pulled out his Luger and aimed it at Elijah. Judy followed suit, unholstering her Bolt Action and shouldering it.
I was freaking out, quickly aiming my 1911 at Elijah as well. "Daisy, Daisy, give me your answer do." Elijah sang as he crouched down and opened his medical case. "Don't you fucking do it!" Judy yelled. "I'm half crazy, All for the love of you." He then carefully selected a scalpel in an almost cheery way. I looked on with horror. "It won't be a stylish marriage, I can't afford a carriage." He then raised the scalpel above his head, aimed at his face. "But you'll look sweet upon the seat of a bicycle built for two!" I looked at the other two, and they seemed terrified.
I took a deep breath and held my gun steady aimed at Elijah's head. Before I could pull the trigger, I saw that beneath his sleeves that had fallen when he raised his arms was a massive, leech-like bite mark. I squeezed the trigger just as he plunged the scalpel into his eye. He didn't scream, didn't yell, he didn't even fucking flinch. He dragged the scalpel downwards, before ripping it out of his face. I stared on in horror as he plunged the viscera-covered scalpel into his other eye, dragging it downwards once again.
I shot him in the back twice, but he didn't stop. Judy fired a round into his head, but it bounced off like he was made of fucking titanium. "What the fuck is going on?!" I yelled to the others. They seemed to just stare in awe. Elijah ripped the scalpel out of his head again and plunged it into his cheek, carving a semi-circle in his mouth. I knew he struck his mouth when he started gurgling. He was still humming the song. He then ripped the scalpel out of his head again and tossed it aside, before turning to look at us.
