"Tabby!" My mom yelled for me as I was unpacking my boxes in my new room. Tabby is my nickname. I walked downstairs quickly, not wanting to deal with her being upset if I don't do as I'm told.
"Hm?" I hummed, standing in front of her, waiting to see what she needed.
"Get the rest of the stuff from the car. It's not much." She stated. I just nodded. I didn't really mind anyways. So, I walked outside to the car and I grabbed the two suitcases from the trunk, bringing them back inside and setting them by the front door.
I walked back upstairs, passing my older brother's room, Daniel, along the way. He's also unpacking his things. I shut my door when I got into my room and I got out the record player I brought with me and put on Elvis Presley.
An hour or so later, I finally finished putting everything away, and decorated most of my new room. Honestly, I do kind of miss home. I just don't know anything about this town, let alone the whole state. I decided, 'Why not take a walk to see what's around?'. So, I walked down the hall to my parents' room, where they were laying on their bed.
"Can I go on a walk to see what's around?" I asked softly. My mother and father looked up at me. They are both so different from each other. My mom, she's cold. For no reason, she's mean, rude, the complete opposite of my father. He's always kind, caring, and loving.
"I don't care." My mother snaps, plainly. My dad kind of gives her a look, and he looks back at me.
"Yes, of course, I don't see why not." He smiles. I nod, muttering a, 'Thanks'.
My mom adds, "Let your brother know too, since he's so protective over you for some reason." She rolls her eyes. I nod and walk back upstairs. I knock on my brother's bedroom door.
"Come in!" He shouts. I walk into his bedroom, noticing all of his stuff is put away neatly. His textbooks and paper, pencils and pens are on his desk. His closet neatly organized with his clothes, the decorations and posters on his walls. I finally look at him.
"I'm going for a walk around town. Mom said to tell you." I shrug, speaking quietly. He nods and smiles at me.
"Alright, be careful. Please, if anything happens, find the nearest payphone or run home." He laughs at the end, kind of serious, but kind of joking on the 'run home' part. I smile gently and leave his room, shutting the door and I walk to my own room, so I can change out of the clothes I slept in while in the car.
I change into my clothes, which I decided on my blue jeans, and a black tight cropped shirt that had butterflies on it, also wearing my combat boots. I sat down at my desk, looking in the new mirror I have, and I unbraided my dark hair, making it look wavy. I make my way downstairs, and through the front door. I noticed that our neighbors are kind of loud, I hear a bunch of yelling and laughing coming from next door. It's an old white house, with an old metal fence. It's quiet right now though. I walk to the right, down the sidewalk.
I look around, seeing a Dairy Queen, a drive-in movie theatre, a lot, a place called, 'The Dingo', another called, 'Buck's' and other places. I keep walking for a bit and decide to go into a gas station I saw, called the, 'DX'. As I open the door, the bell chimes. I see a few guys inside, but that's it. Two of them who I assume work here, because of their nametags, reading one as 'Sodapop', and another as, 'Steve'.
There's two more guys, one who looks kind of mean, he's tall, he has an elfish face, dark brown hair, and he's wearing jeans, boots, and a t-shirt with a brown leather jacket. Then, there's a shorter boy, who has jet-black hair, brown eyes, wearing jeans, a shirt, converse, and a jean jacket. He has a scar underneath his eye. I notice I was staring at him and I knock myself out of my trance to realize they were all looking at me.
I walk up to the counter where the guy named Sodapop was and I point to a pack of cigarettes on the back wall. He grabs them and he puts them on the counter. "Anything else for ya today?" He asks. I shake my head no. The mean-looking guy speaks up.
"Do ya talk or no, broad?" He asks. I raise an eyebrow and kind of glare at him, still not speaking.
I finally decide to say something. "Yeah, I do." I mutter quietly.
"Then what's your name, pretty thing?" He tries to flirt, but fails miserably. I try not to laugh, but a slight chuckle comes out.
"October." I mumble as I pay for the cigarettes. I get my change back and shove the stuff into my pockets. I look back up to the boy with the black hair and quickly looked away once I saw he was looking at me. "Uh, see you guys around I guess." I spoke softly, then turned around and walked out of the gas station thinking, 'Gosh, he's handsome'.

I stared straight ahead, watching as she walked out and disappeared from the corner. All I could think was, 'Gosh she's beautiful'. I still looked in front of me, stuck in my own world. I didn't notice until I heard Dallas's voice sucking me back into reality.
"Johnny! Johnny! Come, on man." I heard, and finally looked up to see him, Soda and Steve looking at me.
"Sorry Dal." I said
"Do you guys wanna go back an' get the rest of the boys an' go to the drive-in or Dingo or somethin'?"
"I don't mind." I said calmly. I couldn't help but wonder though, 'Where is that girl from? How old is she? Is she new in town? I've never seen her.' All of these thoughts ran through my head until we all heard the sound of a scream.
