Many older people would always tell us about how they were bad, and how it wasn't a real hobby. Did we listen? Of course not! My friends and I would sit in front of the screen for hours with a controller in each of our hands. We'd always joke with each other and loudly yell at the screen if one of us lost. It was a great way to bond with friends and find things we liked.
It would be even better when it was one-on-one gaming. The competition would be even higher, and the game would be much more interesting. One of my favorite people to do this is my best friend, TK. We've been friends since high school, and they've always been so reliable and sweet.
When we first started hanging out, we didn't really know what to do. Sometimes we would just sit and do homework, or draw in silence. While we were drawing, I caught a glimpse of TK's sketchbook. Littered all over the page were drawings of video game characters and a few characters from anime.
I set down my sketchbook and started pointing out characters I liked or recognized. They looked surprised and hesitant at first, but they then started slowly started becoming less nervous at showing me their drawings. They were an amazing artist, and I absolutely loved how messy and sketchy their art style looked.
Soon, I pulled out my DS and showed them the game I was playing; 'Super Scribblenauts'. That's how our bond first started to form. We sat side by side and did our best to finish the puzzles. We watched as the character on the screen would collect the Starrites and move into the next level. We spent hours like that, until we both realized how late it was.
Soon enough, we began exploring more games together. Since I had a DS, I had a few more games that I really enjoyed. I'd played Animal Crossing New Leaf pretty often, and my save file was pretty far along. My favorite villager was Punchy, and I had even unlocked the Golden Shovel and the Golden Slingshot.
