the summer after high school had been uneventful, to say the least. however, with the arrival of autumn, comes new beginnings. carter was starting at blackmore university, one of the most well known colleges in the country. as he unpacked his things in his dorm room, he tried to keep a positive mindset. starting college would be a new venture, a chance to make new friends and explore new opportunities.
he sighed, settling into his mattress, contemplating what his future held. a knock at the door snapped him out of his thoughts.
carter's roommate, chad, casually strolled into the room. he was tall and athletic with a laid back attitude. he looked like he came straight from a college brochure. he was effortlessly charming, the type of guy who could light up any room with his easygoing charm. his smile, however, looked a bit forced. with his mind distracted by all the moving parts, carter simply smiled back at him.
"hey, glad to see you're all unpacked. i was worried you might have been late." he said with a teasing tone, dropping his bag onto his bed. he was leaning against his bed, his arms crossedly placed across his chest. in that moment, carter realized that living with chad would be different than he expected – he carried himself with a nonchalance that commanded attention.
he nodded, his expression turning slightly awkward. "it took me a while, but i'm ready now." he offered. chad took a glance around their dorm room, clearly noticing the minimal decorations.
