elena and carter continued to engage in conversation, both of them feeling more comfortable. he was surprised at how easily they clicked. there was a certain spark between them that couldn't be ignored. as they chatted, things got increasingly flirty— her compliments on his costume making his heart skip a beat. it felt like they were on the verge of something more.
suddenly, chad cut into their conversation, bringing an abrupt end to their playful conversation. it was as if he was interrupting them— which he was. but, it was because something had happened that carter needed to stop talking to her. that whatever was going on, happened to tara and he just needed to walk away from elena.
with a heavy sigh, he said goodbye to her and told her that he would see her around. with chad by carter's side, he went away from the living room and stepped out a little close to the stairs where he can see tara fighting with her sister sam. he could hear tara yell in frustration as she fought with her sister, and they were arguing due to tara wanting to go upstairs with a guy she just met while drinking.
chad and carter stood there, listening to the drama unfold when suddenly, he got a little close to the arguing and trying to tell the guy off. yet, that night turned into a fight, with the guy finally backing up. chad walked back to carter and carter saw sam tasing the guy. after that, we all walked out of the party.
with the chaos of the fight, chad, carter and the friend group went outside, away from the party. sam was clearly frustrated and upset, whereas tara was just drunk and they were talking when suddenly, a girl threw her drink at sam and sam called her a bitch, asking her what's wrong with her and if she had a problem with her. "hey, i- i- i have tissues if you want tissues... i have like... three tissues." carter offered sam as he looked at her. she looked at him, still clearly upset and frustrated, but she accepted the tissues, taking them from his hands after he reached out to give them to her and muttering a quiet thank you.
