Coming Out

It took a good 2 almost 3 hours before everyone calmed down enough to actually take a seat in the dining room. Botan and Koenma had gotten to the compound about an hour after the boys and Shizuru got there. So with that everyone except for Keiko was talking excitedly about being together again! Even Puu managed to sneak his head into the doorway to say hi.

Genkai, with some help from Shizuru, managed to make some tea and snacks for everyone and bring it all out to the table. Kurama, Yusuke, Kuwabara and Yukina sat on one side. Koenma, Botan, Shizuru and Touya sat on the other side. Jin and Chu took up spots on one of the ends with Rinku sitting on Chu's shoulder. After tea and snacks were brought out Genkai sat at the other end of the table.

Botan clapped excitedly "it really has been far too long since we've been together! We really need to make a plan at least once a year to have a full group meet up!"

Genkai nodded "especially with the compound slowly becoming a haven. I'm not getting any younger. I've already given you all the compound and you all agreed to keep an eye on everything. Luckily Chu, Rinku, Jin and Touya have been excellent help but either way it would be nice to know you guys will visit and make sure everything is running smoothly."

Yusuke nodded "yeah grandma we know. Personally I am sorry. Believe me I've been wanting to visit it's just been pretty crazy."

Jin grinned his ears wiggling "well at least you visited when we first got here! You being with us when we came was a comfort."

Chu nodded "I'd agree to that! By the way..." Chu looked around the table carefully "I thought it might have just been me being off my rocker but...where's that pretty little sheila of yours?"

Yusuke, Kurama and Kuwabara twitched slightly. Botan hummed questionably "yes yes...where is Keiko?" She looked at Yusuke "it's surprising she didn't come with you."

Yusuke itched his cheek smiling and chuckled nervously "well um...the thing is...uh..."

"I didn't invite her." Genkai stated everyone turning to her confused. She took a sip from her tea then sighed "this little meet up is actually about Keiko." Genkai turned to Yusuke. Everyone turned their attention to him.

Yusuke looked down "um...well..." Kurama gave Yusuke a discreet pat on the knee for encouragement. Yusuke sighed "a little under a year ago...actually it'll be a full year in one an a half weeks from now...Keiko..." He bit his lip and swallowed hard "she broke off our engagement."

The room was silent. There was a mixture of confusion, worry, sadness and even some pity on everyone's face.

After a few minutes Botan glared "ok what did you do to her Yusuke!?"

Yusuke looked at Botan "what do you mean? I did everything she wanted and what I thought she wanted. I worked my ass off for years to make her happy... nothing was ever enough for her then she dumps me with no warning."

Botan scuffed "oh please Yusuke! You always screw something up! I bet you don't even realize what you did wrong because you never do!"

Yusuke growled "what I did wrong!? I know you and Keiko are close but just like I did you have a film over your eyes preventing you from seeing what a terrible person she is and has been...mainly to me!"

"Oh quit the lies Yusuke! Keiko was dedicated to you! She loved you! The only reason she'd leave is if YOU did something to her!"

"She abused me both physically and mentally and I continued to stay with her because I thought that's how relationships were! You have no idea what Keiko put me through! Honestly I should have left her a long time ago but I thought what her and I had was normal!"
